You met the most amazing person. The two of you had a great conversation at a party last night, or maybe you've been friends for quite awhile. But either way, wow.

This person checks a lot of boxes, so to speak. Attractive - check. Sweet - check. Funny - check. Similar values - check. Common interests - check. You really connected with this person and you can already feel yourself falling for them. This person might just be perfect.

Fast forward and things aren't going as you had hoped. Maybe the two of you just drift apart. Maybe you become good friends, but the other person doesn't feel the same way about you. It's easy to beat yourself up about it, after all, this person is perfect for you.

Turns out, they aren't. Because even if this person checks every box imaginable, they fall short in the most important category of all: they don't feel the same way about you.

The "perfect" person for you will fall just as head-over-heels for you as you did for them.

The "perfect" person for you will see your worth-- without anyone have to explicitly show them.

The "perfect" person for you will feel like the luckiest human on earth to be the object of your affection.

So don't settle. Don't sulk. Never try to prove yourself to anyone, especially a potential significant other. Know that somewhere, probably when you least expect it, you will find the perfect person.

Values all of the wonderful things about you - check.

Now that person sounds perfect for you. You deserve someone who wants to be with you as much as you want to be with them. You deserve to fall alongside someone, not for someone. So be patient. Because one day when you find the perfect person, everything will happen so easily that you wonder why you worried in the first place.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday.
