What Odyssey Is Really About
The Odyssey Online

I've come across more than a few articles on different publications with headlines like "No Odyssey, You're Wrong." What's interesting is that the writers of these pieces seem to think that Odyssey specifically endorses single viewpoints on all things. Nothing could be further from the truth. As someone who writes for Odyssey and manages an Odyssey community of Creators, I want to set people straight.

Odyssey's mission is to tell untold stories. It is an uncensored online publication/social media content platform open to all millennial content Creators. Odyssey was founded upon the idea that millennials need an outlet to talk about issues that are relevant and relatable. Odyssey endorses creativity, independence, communication and professionalism, but it does not endorse the opinion of each and every writer. That's what makes Odyssey such an amazing company to work and create for.

Another flaw with the idea that Odyssey supports specific opinions is that it's literally impossible. There are tens of thousands of articles published each month through Odyssey, each written by different content Creators. None of us have the same opinions on everything. None of us come from the exact same backgrounds, towns, cities, schools, etc. Some of us are in college, some of us are in high school. Some of us are out of school in the professional world. Some of us don't fall into any of those categories, and that's the great thing about Odyssey. It's not a publication that "encourages" diversity. It's a social media content platform that thrives on it. Odyssey needs diversity to be what it is, and that's exactly what we have.

Without the diversity of people and opinions involved in Odyssey, there's nothing that separates us from everyone else. Odyssey is unique because it sticks to its mission, making Odyssey something you can be proud to be a part of. So no, the entirety Odyssey does not think feminism means man hating, all of Odyssey does not endorse Clinton or Trump. While I may not agree with or even like what some people say in their articles, I wouldn't change that, because that’s not what Odyssey is about. The only thing I can say with 100 percent confidence regarding Odyssey's values is that Odyssey openly endorses free and thoughtful discussion provoked by thought leaders from everyday communities.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
