The Importance Of My New Year's Resolution

New Year's resolutions are always the hot topic this time of year. They are promises you make to yourself for the new year, so they're definitely something to put some thought into. I'm a huge advocate of New Year's resolutions, I think they're healthy because they force us to reflect on our actions and lifestyle the past year. Resolutions and the beginning of a new year give us the opportunity to improve ourselves by making a change, even if it's something small. I'm not saying that this is the only time of year you can make changes, but it might be encouraging and motivate you to have a couple of friends trying to improve alongside you.

Resolutions can come in many forms, some people make a promise to change a bad habit, others make a resolution to start a healthy habit. I usually set a single goal for the new year and decide on things such as leading a healthier lifestyle, being more generous, or spending more time with my sibling and try to stand by these changes. However this year, I'm trying something different. This year, 2019, I'm setting THREE goals. Yes, I know this is ambitious, but I probably won't fail at all three, right? I think that a balance in life is made up physically, mentally and personally. To achieve a better balance in my life, I'm setting a physical goal, mental goal, and a personal goal. These could look different for everyone, but some ideas physically could include getting in better shape, taking better care of your skin, etc. There could be variety mentally as well, such as learning a better way to deal with your stress or anxiety, valuing yourself more, or finally getting over that ex-boyfriend. The personal goal will definitely look differently for everyone; it could be work-related, to save money, home things you're wanting to accomplish, or any other changes you're eager to make. These three might not be for everyone, but my aunt mentioned this to me so I decided I'd try it out.

It's a challenge to keep up with resolutions all throughout the year, but I know that I hate feeling defeated when I fall short of keeping up with my resolutions and newly formed habits. Creating a resolution allows us to challenge ourselves and to change in the upcoming year, so I think it's a great opportunity to take advantage of this. Whatever you decide to change, I wish you the very best! You do you, this is your year! Bring it on, 2019.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
