Being an only child, there have been times where I have wanted a sister to be able to do life with. Fortunately, I have been able to find that relationship in a really good friend of mine who is like my big sister. Even though we aren't related by blood, we might as well be. But something that is even better than the sister relationship I have with her is the godly sister relationship that I have with her.
Being able to have a godly sister is like having an accountability partner, but it is so much better. I know that if there is ever any time that I need advice or encouragement, I can always call or text my sister. Behind all of the laughs and fun, the godly relationship we share is beyond compare. There are so many times when people go through rough times and try to find encouragement or relational advice, especially godly advice. Being able to have a person that can do this for you is so helpful and such a blessing. There are so many times when having a person like this in your life can be helpful beyond words. The downside is that this type of relationship cannot be forced. I didn't even know my sister until two years ago, but I am so thankful that she came into my life because I don't know what I would do without her.
One of the best things about having a godly sister is the fact that they can be there for you and have probably been through something similar to what you are going through. There are so many times when people say "I understand", but you know that they haven't experienced that. When this happens, that is usually the last statement you ever want to hear, but with a godly sister, they usually do know and feel your pain. They have already experienced whatever boy trouble you're dealing with or whatever conflict you're having with your roommates or even the weird fight you're in with your best friend. They have already been through it all and can give you the best advice for it.
In the end, a godly sister is something that one should never take advantage of because they are the biggest and best blessing that one could ever have in their life. They always know what to say or what coffee you want or even just know when you need a girl's day. No matter what, being able to have a godly sister is one of the best blessings one could ever ask for. I would have never thought of how amazing it would be to actually have someone be my sister, but I was blown out of the water by the wonderful, godly sister I have in my life and the amazing relationship that has been formed between us over the past two years.
