I'm Not With Her

Is this presidential race for the American people or for her?

Hillary Clinton

If you have been keeping up with politics, then you know there is no doubt Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton will be the nominees for the Republican and Democratic party, respectively.

As I've grown older and started paying more attention to the world of politics around us, I have formed my own beliefs and opinions. Politics are a touchy subject and have caused a lot of division between people (after all, you are literally for one party or the other), but I believe it's important to get your voice out there and exercise your right to vote. If you cannot handle opposition, I suggest you stop reading now before your feelings get hurt.

I will admit, Donald Trump is far from the perfect presidential candidate. No one should applaud his objectification of women, his xenophobic attitude, his narcissistic and self-absorbed personality, his crude rhetoric, or his "realistic" plan to build a wall and deport millions of immigrants. He is not the ideal person to be our leader of the free world.

But neither is Hillary.

I cannot fathom how Hillary Clinton has come this far. But I guess that's OK. After all, everyone can vote for who they want. But let me just warn you what you are up against if you vote for this woman to be our 45th president of the United States.

You are voting for the woman who lies for a living. She claimed to be against same sex-marriage in 2002 but advocates for it in the present day. She claimed she "remember(s) landing under sniper fire" in a 1996 trip to Bosnia even though video footage shows a smooth and calm landing. She fights for universal healthcare so why would she say that it will "never, ever happen"? Quit flip-flopping, Hillary. I am tired of you saying one thing, apologizing for it, then repeating the same thing over and over again. When will it end?

You are voting for the woman who put our national security at risk because she doesn't know how to separate her work email from her personal one. Something is not right when you are under FBI investigation for deleting over 30,000 emails, Hillary.

You are voting for the woman who advocates for women's rights but defended a 42-year-old man for raping a 12-year-old girl in 1975, despite knowing he was guilty of the crime. You're better than that, Ms. Clinton. Or at least I hope you are.

You are voting for the woman who sympathizes with African American voters about police brutality and #BlackLivesMatter, but has referenced the urban youth as "super predators" with "no conscience, no empathy."

You are voting for the woman who blamed a YouTube video for the Benghazi attack, then lied to the families of the fallen victims.

And speaking of terrorist attacks, you are voting for the woman who is blaming guns for the tragic attack on the gay nightclub Pulse in Orlando, Florida. I'm tired of people blaming guns for the deaths of these innocent people. You don't blame the alcohol or the tight clothes for rape -- you blame Brock Turner. You don't blame the car for causing a car accident -- you blame the drunk driver. You don't blame the plane that crashed into the towers on 9/11 -- you blame the radical Islamic terrorists. You don't blame the bomb that destroyed the Boston Marathon -- again, you blame the extremists. You don't blame the guns for the Sandy Hook massacre, the San Bernardino shooting, the Aurora movie theater tragedy, the Paris attacks, or the Orlando nightclub shooting. The ones to blame are the sick, twisted, and disgusting people who think it's OK to take away the innocent lives of Americans and non-Americans. But that's another argument for another day.

If you've made it this far into my article, I thank you for your time. I still have a lot of learning to do, and I am still unsure of who to vote for in the upcoming election. But one thing for certain is that I will not cast my vote for Hillary. I do not want to look into my daughter's eyes in the future and tell her that this person was the first female president of the United States. Call me sexist, but what an embarrassment for women everywhere.

I hope you all have a great day, and God bless you.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
