I'm Not Sorry For Crying

Because tears fall for many different reasons.

Tears happen because life happens. Sometimes I find myself apologizing for crying in front of others, but really, there is no reason to be sorry. So if you need to shed a tear or two, don't fight the feeling. Adults have more to cry about than babies do, anyway!

When I've had a rough day

If you are a human being or even anything with a shadow, you know what it feels like to have a bad day. Whether it be stress from school, a break up, or you spilled coffee on your brand new shirt, life throws some wicked twists and turns at us and they can be difficult to endure sometimes. A good cry can often relieve the pain of whatever it is you are upset about, so let it out! Also, if you're willing to involve others, talk to your friends about the situation. They will be more than happy to console you and get you back on track to feeling like yourself again!

When I'm overjoyed

The term "tears of joy" is so applicable to my life because I experience many moments that are too wonderful to hold back the tears! Weddings, graduations, concerts, and other joyous events in life can surly be emotionally overwhelming, so if you see me somewhere special and I'm blotting my face with a tissue, it's probably because I'm crying from being so happy. Funny how that works, isn't it?

When I didn't do so well on an exam

College life: it's hard. You study hours upon hours for an exam (or you don't...) and you still get the grade that you didn't want. Even though life happens and it's completely normal, it can be upsetting, so please forgive my tears!

When I laugh a little too hard

I am notorious for laughing until my mascara runs all the way down to my knees. "Are you crying?!" Yes, I am crying, but in a good way! If you can make me laugh until I cry, message me. Let's be friends.

When I say hello!

Being a college student, there are many people in my life that I do not get to see as often as I wish, but when I do, I am absolutely ecstatic. Visits from loved ones can be a bit overwhelming and emotional when I have not seen them in awhile, so if I get tears on your shoulder when we hug, it's because I missed you. A lot.

When I say goodbye...

Just as I may cry when I see someone that I haven't seen in awhile, I definitely cry when they depart, too. In high school, I became close friends with a foreign exchange student from Finland and it broke my heart when she had to go back home. Saying goodbye to your pets before you go back to school is just as hard, too! How great would it be if we could bring our cats and dogs to college? Wishful thinking!

When it's a "last"

Senior year of high school was chalk-full of "lasts." Last football game, last prom, last dance recital, everything. Although I have a lot ahead of me to look forward to, "lasts" can be incredible sad, for they signify a closing chapter in your life. Bidding a farewell to something/someone is very rarely an easy thing to do.

When I'm watching a movie

...or one of those dog commercials with Sarah McLachlan (you know exactly what I'm talking about). But yeah, movies get me. I cannot see sad, mushy love movies in theaters because I will leave looking like a raccoon from me crying all of my mascara off! Maybe it's time to invest in some waterproof mascara, don't you think?

Everyone cries!

It's true. Everyone does it. Some may not emote as much as others, but we are all capable of feeling emotions. Crying does not make you "weaker" or "less masculine" of a person, it just further proves that you are human. So go ahead, grab a box of tissues and put the "Titanic" on. You may not be human if you can make it through the "Titanic" without shedding a single tear though.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
