Chocolate almond bread, Nutella and banana crepe, French toast and waffles; just a few of the amazing items that are on the menu at recently opened Toothsome's Chocolate Emporium & Savory Feast Kitchen at Universal Orlando Resort City Walk. One of Orlando's newest hot stops, they have a variety of dishes and something for everyone. From the outside, the Emporium looks like a mix between a factory and a steamboat. The theme is steampunk and everything from the workers uniform to the merchandise displays the unique style.
There are three sections in the Emporium. To the left is the sweets shop for those who only wish to try one of their 14+ deserts or 13 original milkshakes. In the main part of the Emporium is the restraint for those who wish to indulge in a more fine dining experience. Lastly, to the right is the merchandise store where they sell everything from chocolate bars and candy treats, to t-shirts, cups, and even bowler hats. If you are planning to go to the restaurant anytime soon be fair warned, the wait to be seated is typically an hour but can be more with bigger parties. However, it is totally worth the wait.
Upon being seated, you are given a huge Victorian style book that is the menu. The first page is the story of Professor Doctor Penelope Tibeaux-Tinker Toothsome and how the Emporium came to be. This is the first restaurant at Universal Orlando that has an elaborate story and character. Penelope herself may even stop by your table to welcome you to her Emporium.
As for what's on the menu it's self, there is an array of choices to choose from; all of which are delicious. Some of my personal favorites are the Warm Chocolate Almond Bread, Kettle Chip Nachos, the May Contain Bacon burger, classic Fettuccine Alfredo, and the Fire Grilled Pork Chops. Check out the Orlando Informer for a complete menu of the dishes and deserts. Of course you can't go to a chocolate Emporium and not try one of their signature deserts. Taylor Strickland, the owner and editor of Orlando Informer, made a video trying all 13 milkshakes. My favorite was the Red Velvet Milkshake but I still haven't tried all of their flavors. Regardless of what desert you choose, it is going to be an unforgettable experience.
