For as long as I can remember, I have been told over and over that I have a very blunt and honest personality. As I have gotten older I have embraced this and have not shied away from it. I have found that being honest about things is a rare quality in so many people.
"Never say sorry for being too honest."
Many of us have probably been told by parents, "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all." But, why not? I would much rather have someone tell me a hard truth than ease my pain with a lie. Because more than likely, I will find out about the lie sooner rather than later. I don't want to be lied to and therefore, I don't lie to other people. If someone asks me my opinion, I tell them. It's a quite simple concept that seems hard for many.
"I'm not a bakery. I don't sugar coat anything. If you ask for my opinion then that is what you will get. Don't be mad when it's not what you want to hear."
I don't think being blunt or honest about things makes you a bitch. Being blunt, honest and 100 percent up front about things makes me a good person. It makes me someone my friends know they can trust to give a true opinion. It makes me trustworthy. How the concepts of being honest makes you come off as a bitch, could ever correlate is beyond my knowledge actually. If you tell the truth you come off as rude, mean and ruthless. If you lie then you come off as shady, deceitful, and a bad person. You can't win.
"You've got enemies? Good. That means you actually stood up for something in your life." -- Eminem
So, choose to do whatever the hell you want and just be honest. There are way too many people who aren't in today's world, so being a breath of fresh air to people is fun for me. They don't expect you to be outspoken and some times their faces will be priceless when you tell them what you really think.
"Speak boldly and with intellect. Never hush your voice for someone's comfort. Speak your mind, make people uncomfortable."
There are, of course, moments where you should bite your tongue. I know that. But we sometimes forget that those moments are few and far between. People get mad when they request honesty and get upset at the response they get. I refuse to be labeled anything that demeans being an honest person.
"To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else, is the greatest accomplishment."
If you don't think you can handle the truth then stop asking for it because it makes everyone who is honest look bad.
