We have all heard it before: "You are here for a purpose."
Sometimes those words can seem very hollow and just not personal.
How can I, a girl from a small town in Tennessee, have a purpose large enough to matter?
What could I possibly offer?
Sometimes our thoughts are flooded by phrases like "I am not good enough" or "I just don't have anything to offer."
That is the furthest thing from the truth.
God does this thing where He likes to take the unqualified, unequipped, and messy people and make them into someone who is mighty, worthy, and capable.
- Abraham - Was old.
- Elijah – Was suicidal.
- Joseph – Was abused.
- Job – Went bankrupt.
- Moses – Had a speech problem.
- Gideon – Was afraid.
- Samson – Was a womanizer.
- Rahab – Was a prostitute.
- Samaritan Woman – Divorced.
- Noah – Was a drunk.
- Jeremiah – Was young.
- Jacob – Was a cheater.
- David – Was a murderer.
- Jonah – Ran from God.
- Naomi – Was a widow.
- Peter – Denied Christ three times
- Martha – Worried about everything.
- Zacchaeus – Was small and money hungry.
- The Disciples – Fell asleep while praying.
- Paul – A Pharisee who persecuted Christians before becoming one.
It does not matter who you are or how much baggage you come with.
God only sees His precious and righteous child who is more than capable of what He created you to be.
This can be scary though, cause sometimes God calls us to do crazy things.
Yes, like build a giant arch for a flood in an area that does not receive rain.
My preacher put it like this...
Each one of us is a stone.
When we throw ourselves out there we make a splash.
Every splash has a ripple effect.
The splash could be big.
The splash could be small.
But no matter the size of the splash, there is always a ripple effect.
So that leaves us with a two questions.
1. Do you have your stone (a.k.a relationship with Jesus)?
2. Are you willing to jump in and make a splash?
But before we "jump in" we must make sure we are prepared and that we are doing this for God.
Every person will go through a preparation stage. This is where you spend genuine and meaningful time with God. Not a midnight prayer that you fall asleep in just to say you did it. This is time you carve out to spend time getting to know Your Creator. This is where you find yourself, your purpose, and your calling.
We don't stop there though. Eventually, we have to do more than learn. We have to do. We have to go out and make a splash.
Take Noah for example, God called him to build an arch so he went and built it. He didn't ask someone else to do it or pray that it would happen without him. Noah knew he was out of the preparation stage and he had to go out, no matter how crazy.
To God, Crazy is beautiful!
Noah, an ordinary guy, built the ark. A group of professionals built the Titanic.
God is calling all of us.
You do have a purpose.
You do have a life worth living.
You can change the world.
You are worthy.
You are loved.
You are capable.
You are an unqualified mess and God wants to use you!
