A letter to my future husband:
If you’re out there, I can’t wait to meet you. I can’t wait to learn what makes you smile, what you’re passionate about, and what makes you tick. I can’t wait to memorize your face and each and every facial expression until we can communicate without any words. I can’t wait for date nights where we get all dolled up, and I can show you off the same way that I hope you’ll show me off. I can’t wait for holidays, birthdays, and anniversaries with you. I can’t wait for shared memories or for helping each other through tough times.
If you’re out there, I apologize for the nights that I don’t love myself, the nights when I am too much to handle, the nights when I am moody and annoyed by everything. I am sorry for burning our dinners for at least the first two weeks, and I am sorry for my obnoxious outbursts of singing and dancing – badly, that is. I’m sorry for eating your leftovers from the night before and putting my cold feet on you while you’re sleeping. I am sorry for my addiction to puppies and for the fact that we will have at least 4 dogs.
If you’re out there, I want you to know that I will love you like there is no tomorrow. Once that ring is on my finger, I am yours forever. For every argument, every time we want to give up, and even every laugh, we will stick by each other. It will be hard sometimes, and sometimes it will be the easiest thing in the world. We have to remember that no matter where we are in our lives, we are a blessing to one another, and nothing will change that.
So, if you’re out there, here is to our promise to love each other unconditionally, to live under the same roof and sleep in the same bed, to always compromise, to never go to sleep mad, to work things out instead. I promise to give you my world, but only if you give me yours. You have and hold my heart, and, if you’re out there, if you’re really out there, I have and hold your heart too. Here is to us, to every argument, every laugh, every kiss, and every tear. If you’re out there, I can’t wait to meet you.
Yours truly,
Your future wife
