Sometimes, I wish that a DJ would follow me around with a boom box and play music that relates to absolutely everything I do, whether that event is exciting or completely mundane. Music is quite a powerful thing. It can inspire you, motivate you, relax you, comfort you, help you cope when you’ve been broken up with, orfuel your unhealthy rage and frustration when you lose your school ID.
If I were your own personal life DJ, these are the songs I would play as you went about your day.
The song to gently wake you up in the morning: Awake My Soul- Mumford and Sons
The song for celebrating the accomplishment of you actually getting out of the cozy comfort of your bed at 7 in the morning in order to make it to the gym and shower before your 9:25 class: BO$$ - Fifth Harmony
The song that encourages you to keep walking to the gym after you leave the safety and warmth of your residence hall: Chariots of Fire- Vangelis
The song for when you’re singing in the shower post-gym: Shower- Becky G
The song for when the fire alarm in your dorm goes off while you are singing in the shower: Untitled (How Could This Happen To Me): Simple Plan
The song to inspire you when you’re getting dressed: Primadonna- Marina and the Diamonds
The song for when you discover your favorite shirt shrunk in the wash and you can’t wear it anymore: Here Without You- 3 Doors Down
The song for when you realize you have a quiz during your 9:25 class and you haven’t done any of the readings for a solid month: No Hope- The Vaccines
The song while you are deliberating where you should go for lunch: Listen to Your Heart- Roxette
The song for when everyone agrees when and where to meet in order to work on your group project but you are the only one who actually shows up: Alone- Heart
The song for when you trip and fall down the library stairs in front of everyone including the person you’ve been madly in love with (or obsessed with) since freshman year: Everytime – Britney Spears
The song for when they have your favorite soup in the dining hall: Good Day ft. Nappy Roots - Greg Street
The song for going into your common room to use the microwave while wearing your glasses, a metal retainer, and a pajama shirt that has, “Always wear cute pajamas to bed, you never know who you’re going to meet in your dreams" plastered across it and discovering that your roommate has guests over who are clearly judging you and think you are a mentally deranged person: We R Who We R – Ke$ha
The song for bidding farewell to your friends before you head to your painfully long two and a half hour night class: Time to Say Goodbye - Andrea Bocelli and Sara Brightman
The song for when you’re trying to convince your friends to go out with you: Out Tonight - Rent
The song to soothe you and lure you into a peaceful slumber: Ekki múkk- Sigur Ros
The song for when your roommate wakes you up by barging into your room with all of his/her friends in tow at 3 in the morning, blinds you by turning on the light, and proceeds to try to talk to you: Don’t Wake Me Up- Chris Brown
I think it's safe to say that no one will call me to score any films anytime soon...
