It's rolling around to election time again and anyone who wants to be president is coming out of the woodwork. This is especially true with the GOP where a number of people have already announced they are running for president. Many of these candidates have pretty distinct personalities or histories. Here are a few candidates or potential candidates if they were to be summed up by a popular movie.
Jeb Bush: The Hangover Three
While the first two movies in the trilogy were pretty similar, the third had a clear difference in that there was no blackout night in the movie. The same goes for Jeb Bush. Many say that George Sr. and George Jr. are pretty similar but it seems that Jeb is a little more moderate than the two Bushes before him. He is currently one of the front runners in the GOP right now. Maybe he might be more successful than the third Hangover movie was.
Marco Rubio: The Legend of Zorro
Another front runner among the Republicans brings about a bit of diversity that the GOP needs. A little bit of a Latino spice might be the solution. The somewhat experienced but very influential Senator could possibly become the Zorro, the Hispanic savior that the could solve the GOP's presidential problems.
Carly Fiorina: Million Dollar Baby
Fiorina is a former CEO of Hewlett-Packard (HP) who also has limited tangible political experience. Million Dollar Baby is about a woman boxer who aspires to be a professional boxer. It might be in the best interest of the GOP to look into have a woman on the ticket to take some of the women's votes away from Hillary. This presidential election could possibly turn into a women's boxing match if Fiorina gets onto the ticket.
Rick Santorum: Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood
Ok, so this isn't a movie but it was a popular TV show. For some reason Santorum just reminds me of Mr. Rodgers. It might be the extremely conservative family oriented values they share, or more likely the creepy always cheery happy vibe they give off. This will also be his second run for office and hopefully he doesn't get too lucky with it. He just creeps me out too much.
Ted Cruz: The Hunger Games
The far right wing candidate, Ted Cruz is all about small government. The Tea Party superstar's hard line conservative values have him acting like Obama is the same person as President Snow in The Hunger Games. I feel like in his mind the government is heading towards something similar to Panem.
Chris Christie: The Great Gatsby
Christie has had tremendous success in the last few years as the Governor of New Jersey, especially with dealing with the Hurricane Sandy relief effort. He is in a very impressive position considering he is a Republican governor in an fairly blue state. However, like the great Jay Gatsby, Christie has had his fall with the Bridgegate scandal which will possibly ruin his chances at getting elected in the primaries.
Mike Huckabee: Grease 2
Mike Huckabee is a very likable guy. He had a pretty good run in the 2012 primaries and has had a pretty successful political career and even a TV show. However, since his announcement to run, he hasn't seen the kind of support that many republican candidates have be receiving and I don't see that improving anytime soon. The first Grease movie is now considered a classic and was wildly successful in the years since its release however, the sequel, Grease 2, was a massive flop in the box office. Huckabee, like the Grease series probably should have stopped at one.
