Tis the spooky season for comparing everything to Halloween Candy. This time it stretches beyond the prospect of horoscopes and T.V. characters into beloved Florida Universities.
Florida State University- Reese's
Ok, I'll admit I'm super biased on this one, but FSU is definitely a crowd pleaser like the classic Reese's. I mean, we had Chance the Rapper at our homecoming, the campus is beautiful, and our football team is always on point. The combinations themselves are iconic: chocolate and peanut butter, garnet and gold, Osceola and Renegade. So many dynamic duos here.
Rollins- Artisan Chocolates
I'm talking Lindor truffles, Godiva, Giradhelli squares, Dove minis; because if you can afford tuition at Rollins, you can afford to splurge on only the best treats. The private institution specializes in business degrees, so Tars will be spoiling the neighborhood kids with fancy candy long after they graduate.
University of Florida- Nerds
I don't really need to explain myself on this one. UF is aggressively the Wonka treat Nerds. Just like the bright packaging of the candy, they're in your face about it too. Nonetheless, they're still an enjoyable classic that many are happy to find sprinkled in their plastic Jack-O-Lanterns and pillowcases.
New College of Florida- Organic Candy
This private, liberal arts school is a force to be reckoned with. It boasts of the highest concentration of Fullbright Scholarships in the country. Still, upon touring it I couldn't help but notice the abundance of bare-footed students walking around carrying mason jars. Much like NCF students, this candy is very in touch with the Earth.
University of Central Florida- Everlasting Gobstoppers
UCF: U Can't Finish. Where it trails in four-year graduation rates it makes up for with an ever-growing student population, UCF matches the gobstopper in both abundance and, well, longevity.
University of Miami- Fireballs
It's only a little bit because of the Pitbull song. This school gets a little spicy when game day approaches, and much like the candy, is an acquired taste.
University of South Florida- Skittles
A chill candy. Not too expensive and echoes the diversity of USF. Nobody's mad at a nice pack of Skittles.
