Fairfield University students are most certainly familiar with the campus its well-known buildings, but have you ever stopped to think what they would be like if they were like the television shows you watch daily?
Barone
The main dining hall at Fairfield University reminds me a lot of a very popular show that teenage girls enjoy, "Pretty Little Liars." When the show first came out, it attracted everyone, drawing their attention to the screen and becoming the new trendiest show to watch every Tuesday night. However, after a while, the show seemed to get more and more repetitive. Each time you watch it, you expect to find out who A is, and at the end of the show you are yet again disappointed. Don't get me wrong, Barone has definitely prevented me from starvation, the same way "Pretty Little Liars" prevents me from boredom, but after the same old grilled chicken and salad, I give up hope.
The RecPlex
I was a die-hard "Grey's Anatomy" fan, and spent much of my college Netflix days watching it in bed. And then (in case I spoil the show for future viewers I will call it an "event") an event occurred, and the show was changed forever. After this event, it was definitely hard to get used to the current show. As I am sure we all have heard, the RecPlex is currently under renovation. Moving the gym into the basement of Alumni Hall may be a little hard to get used to. However, keep in mind that a new season of "Grey's Anatomy" is returning, as well as a new and improved, Fairfield University gym.
The Village
As a sophomore at Fairfield University, I am lucky enough to live in the village as a resident of Claver Hall. When I walk through these doors, the first thing that I can think of is "Friends." Living in the village just gives you that "I am older and out on my own vibe." Living with my best friend, I cannot help but think about all the fun and memories Monica and Rachel created. Another thing about the village is that it has co-ed floors, kind of like Joey and Chandler living right across from you. Ross' apartment is right across the street from them, the way that Kostka is right across the street from us. The village is simply a great place to mature more and live with the best friends that will be there for you "even when the rain is falling down."
The Kelley Center
Sometimes I feel like my life is pretty awesome. I just got my car washed, and my Toyota is shining like crazy. I just bought a new pair of converse. And I just painted my nails with no chips! And then I turn on "Keeping up with the Kardashians" and think, What am I doing wrong? I know it was a far-stretch, but the Kelly Center does remind me of this show. I can think my resume is amazing and flawless, but the Career Planning Center will tell me I have a long way to go. They provide you with helpful tips that encourage you to extend beyond your potential in order to succeed.
The Library
OK, so you are probably thinking, What the hell does "Breaking Bad" have to do with Fairfield's Library? Let me break it down for you. A man is given bad news. He knows he needs to do something about this bad news. He goes to dire measures and soon feels like he is untouchable and cannot be stopped. How many times have you freaked out because you just remembered you had a paper due tomorrow, and you sprint to the library? The quietness and images of other studious scholars seems to just give you an adrenaline rush. Once you start work in the library, you just can't stop until you get the job done (even if your job is a little safer than Walter White's).
Whether you like these television shows or not, after watching them, the unique idea will stick with you. Just like these shows, you will remember Fairfield and its campus buildings long after you graduate.
