Disney Princesses As Music Genres, Because We All Know They Break Out In Song

What do you get when you combine Disney's sweethearts with today's music?

My family recently went to Disney without me, which was hard to understand at first but that just means that I have to go in the near future. Anyway, when I do have the chance to go, I always make a point of seeing the princesses to bring out my inner child. If you're asking, yes I do shed some tears every time just because my inner child is on the surface rather than deeper. Another thing I always cry about is music. I love each of them so much so I thought, why not put them together.

Here's what I think each princess would be if they were music types:

Tiana- Jazz/ Soul

Obviously growing up in New Orleans in the early 20's makes her the one to be most associated with Jazz, but she's got a lot of soul in her too. She's passionate about her dream of owning a restaurant just like the artists that are part of this genre.

Belle- Acoustic

Belle is the type of girl who loves reading and who would most likely love words. Acoustic is the perfect genre for her because the sound is so pure and the most attention is given to the lyrics.

Cinderella- Ballads

We all know that Cinderella is a romantic and would sing her heart out for her prince, no matter if she's met him or not. She would not have any trouble writing a ballad

Ariel- Pop

Ariel is still very naive and young, and she would most likely be pop because most young girls focus on the beat of music rather than both the instruments and lyrics. I know from experience, that I had no idea what I was listening to when I was young because I paid no attention to the lyrics that were mostly inappropriate.

Mulan- Rock

Mulan is rebellious, courageous and independent, which I associate a lot with rock. Whenever you listen to rock, you just wanna let your hair down and whip it in the air while playing a sick air guitar.

Rapunzel- Country

First, let me point out that Rapunzel goes through a lot even though she's young. A lot of country singers sing about what they've gone through. I think you get where I'm going here.

Merida- Folk

Merida is energetic and very different from any woman in her community, never wanting to marry off. I think Folk music is very similar in a way that people mistake it for old folk. Many artists include a hint of folk in their music and Merida is similar in a way that only some people can understand.

Aurora- Classical

Aurora is graceful, very gentle and poised just like classical music. She also does fall asleep- hence the name sleeping beauty- much like what happens to me when I listen to classical music (lol).

Jasmine- Hip Hop

Jasmine is living in a world that she wants to be free from. She is free-spirited, headstrong and confident, three things that she shares with a lot of hip-hop artists and she'd definitely make a pretty bad ass hip hop singer.

Snow White- Vocals

The oldest film, but the youngest princess sings her work away along with the seven dwarves she lives with. Her matronly qualities bring all the animals to her. With her gorgeous vocals, she would wow any crowd.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
