Life is an interesting thing. God sends us on this path premeditated specifically for us. We walk through valleys of sadness and climb mountains of hardship to reach greatness at the top. We see countless sights of beauty and just as equally we see things that break our heart. We experience happiness, sorrow, loss and victory. The greatest thing that we will ever know in this life, however, is pure love from another person.
Of course when one thinks of a love like that we correlate it with either a future husband or Jesus. But in this case I'm talking about my friends. Everyone has those friends that they truly could not live without. The ones that are there to make you laugh until you cry and are always down to go on any adventure with you. The ones that are there to pick up all the pieces after a breakup and you're crying so hard you can't even explain what happened (sorry for being a hot mess, guys). The ones that know exactly what to say or when to say nothing at all. The ones that have been by your side through the ups and downs and will be there every step of the way. This is my letter to you.
The real MVPs,
Thank you. Thank you for the unfathomable amount of love and support that you show me every single day. You have seen me at my worst (and we all know that's a disaster) and you have helped me to achieve my best. You push me to attain greatness but are never condescending when I don't quite make it. You are always there with an "it's okay" or a "you did the right thing" whenever it's needed. You see when I have a heavy heart and quickly ask if I need coffee, to which the answer is always yes. You are 100% down for life chats and I think you know me better than I know myself sometimes. You are there to make me laugh and never fail to laugh at my jokes (thank you for the reassurance that I'm hilarious, sometimes I actually need it). You are always there with advice even if I don't follow it, but I genuinely value your opinion.
You don't judge me for my eccentricity and if we're being honest, you're right there with me. Though we may have different taste at times you simply say, "That isn't for me, but that is definitely you," and I love that you embrace our differences. You are always down for a spontaneous adventure and those will be the memories I'll keep forever. I'm so lucky to have people that are fully convinced that I'm cool and funny, and to have people that have become my selected family. Some of you have been in my life as long as I can remember, and some of you have only recently invaded it (just kidding), but I couldn't imagine life without you in it, and I know that we are BF4L. But really. I love you more than I can explain and I am so thankful that God blessed me with your luminous soul as a friend and as a sister. You're rad.
xoxo,
Steven
P.S. Sorry in advance for how crazy I act at my wedding.
