Stop Being "lukewarm"

Hypocritical Christianity

When the word “Christian” is used today it is sometimes used very loosely. People use it to say that they believe in God, but they don’t realize what being a Christian truly means. Being a Christian is having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. And then there are the people who know what it means to be a Christian, they might even call themselves Christians, but they don’t act like it. Now please don’t start reading this and think that I am judging people. Believe me I have made my fair share of mistakes and I know that everyone has made mistakes (Romans 3:23). However, I do believe that God is very clear when He explains what a Christian is in scripture. Scripture describes Christianity as “dying to yourself”. This means that you are a new creation and that you leave worldly things behind. Christianity is letting go of your worldly desires and following Him whole-heartedly. Like I said above, I have made my fair share of mistakes and there was a time in my life when I gave in to my worldly desires and chose to live for what I wanted instead of what God wanted. And it pleased me for a while, but it never gave me true joy. The true joy that only Christ can give (Psalm 1). After doing things that I knew were not pleasing to God, there was a moment when I looked in the mirror and did not recognize the girl looking back. This woman looking back was not a woman who wanted to live for God and honor Him with her actions. That was when God got ahold of me and showed me something that, unfortunately, a lot of the people who call themselves “Christians” overlook. He made it clear to me that BEING A CHRISTIAN IS NOT LUKEWARM. There are not supposed to be gray areas. You are supposed to leave worldly desires behind and follow Him, and live for Him daily. When God got ahold of me, I stopped giving in to my worldly desires and completely devoted my life to Him. I mean, I’m not gonna lie, there are days when the temptation is there, but when that happens I just have to give it to God, and ask Him to help me make good choices. So all you people who claim to be “Christians’’ but are going out and doing things that you know are not pleasing to God, STOP. God does not put up with being lukewarm. You are either a follower of Him or you’re not. Stop being hypocritical. You are only hurting the gospel. So choose who you want to be. You are either for Him or against Him.

“‘I know your works: you are neither cold nor hot. Would that you were either cold or hot! So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth.”

Revelation 3:15-16

“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. You will recognize them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? So, every healthy tree bears good fruit, but the diseased tree bears bad fruit. A healthy tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a diseased tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus you will recognize them by their fruits."

Matthew 7:15-20

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
