To the man in my future willing to take on the challenge of being my other half, let me take the time to thank you in advance and give you a few tips for the future.
1. Patience
You have to be patient with me, for I am beyond broken. I have been ran over, picked up, twisted, turned, crushed, shattered and thrown off of a cliff by life. I imagine by the time you find me, I will be on one of my last breaths emotionally. More than anything in the world I need your patience. I have allowed so many of the wrong men to come in, rip my heart to shreds and scatter them. I need you to pick up the pieces and glue them back together and show me how to love again. I need you to show me that it is okay to let go and let a man love me. It is going to take a while, but as long as you are in it for the long run, I will never give up. Give me your patience.
2. Time
Give me your time and I will give you my heart. I don't ask for much and I don't want to strip you away from your boys, but sometimes I will need time for just us. We can have date night or we can sit in a room silently together. Dedicate a portion of your time for me. I want to get the chance to know all of you. In this time I want to explore the complexity of your mind. Giving me your time is the most valuable and precious gift I could ever receive from you. Give me your time.
3. Your Word
The moment we are bound together in holy matrimony, that's it. There is no out. I am so tired of watching people get married and get divorced. Make a promise to me and promise to God that no matter what we go through, you will stay faithful to me and we will work through everything that the devil throws at us together as one. I don't want to believe that there is anything that has a strong enough power to separate us. For God is love and love is the strongest power to ever cross the face of this earth. Give me your word.
5. Spark
Whether I have already met you, or I have yet to meet you, never stop looking at me like the way you did when you first fell in love with me. Never lose our spark; what makes us special. There will be laughs, tear, and stories to tell for years to come. I promise to wake up in the morning and turn over excited to see my best friend next to me and eager to take on the day with you. Always laugh with me. Always make things a team effort. And I promise to never give up on you, even in the hardest of times.
Dear Future Husband of mine, I can't wait to cross paths with you if I haven't already. I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you. I can't wait for you to come in and change my black and white world to vibrant colors. And for that, I will be forever thankful to you.
