In the same way that traffic lights direct traffic on the streets, there should be a system for human beings to coexist peacefully without unnecessary fighting or quarreling.

With a green light ahead of you, you could go without stopping. This is how we should all live our lives, with no limitations or regrets. In a sense, when the light is green we have the right to continue on our path. How we live is our choice, it's actually one of the only choices we have. I believe that everyone has their own purpose, and finding that purpose is a lifelong challenge for some. At the end of the day, we’re all stuck together on one world, one planet, one environment that holds us all together in at least one way. We can't escape it without ending every possibility of life in and of itself, because life doesn't exist outside of the parameters we were given.

Naturally, we get caught up in the excitement of our green light lives, and we forget that sometimes the light turns yellow. When that happens, whether it be a hardship that stops us or even just a thought, the light turns red; and we need to take a second to put our lives into perspective and ultimately let other people live. When placed at an intersection between right and wrong; we have to make choices that reflect what we are on the inside, and let others do the same.

Sometimes, we don't listen to the rules of traffic and we drive recklessly. We speed when there's a speed limit. We run red lights because we don't want to wait until they turn green again. And at times, it's these decisions that cause us to harm others and ourselves. The blatant lack of tolerance for someone else's thought process can lead to a head on collision with that person on a whole new scale: a collision of ideas. It becomes a collision of brutality and impatience that will lead to negative energy. Rather than running the figurative red light, patience should be practiced instead. While their light is green, allow them to explain their ideas, listen and truly try to understand why they believe what they do. Empathize, because without empathy there is no sympathy. If you still don't agree, agree to disagree and continue on your green-lit path. Don't allow someone to tear you down for what you believe in, instead take their criticism and use it to build yourself up into a stronger and more intricately developed person. Be a beautiful example of how the world should be, rather than a painful reminder of what it really is.

Our minds weren't made to be the same as the person in the car next to us, but when we drive we still give them the right of way when they deserve it, and we expect the same from them when it's our turn to proceed. Why can't the same general concept apply to every day life? Live and let live. Love and let love. Be and let be. Exist in ways that make you, and everyone around you, better. Allow others placed on your path to grow without being held back by society's negativity and the pressure to be someone they aren't. Encourage people, use your spare moments to spread positivity and hope of a brighter future where coexisting doesn't seem so far fetched. At the end of the day, we have an allotted number of seconds left on this earth marked by a set number of heart beats with a designated number of hellos, goodbyes and introductions to people you never even knew existed. Don't waste your time portraying someone that doesn't reflect every thought that races through your mind, every feeling that courses through your body and every laugh that rings from within you. Life is too damn short to be anything but yourself.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
