Humanity's Darkest Hour

I believe in us.

Working For Humanity

I believe in the human race. I am a feminist. I believe in masculism. I am an egalitarian. I believe that all people deserve to be heard; that all people deserve to be equal, they deserve to all be treated like humans. We aren't some pawn in a game of chess, each one of us breaths the same air, we are all made up of similar chemical bonds- we are all human.

These days you are forced to pick a side on everything. You are made out to be the bad guy one way or another because the opposing sides can't see why disagreement can be good and that sometimes you can't always get your way. We are making a society that makes it okay to throw a temper tantrum when you don't get your way. We are making it okay to walk down the streets of Washington D.C. and destroy everything in our path because we didn't get what we wanted. We are making it okay to destroy everything that has been worked for by our ancestors for the past hundreds of years because we want something different. Here is a news flash, they wanted something different too. They wanted change. What we want, blood.

We don't believe that we have accomplished anything until somebody is visibly hurt and injured. We don't believe our work is done until somebody has paid the price. As a society we are ruining everything we have to get our way. You know if everybody got their way, Burger King would be a lot more popular. There are times when I watch the news or look through a newspaper and there is always somebody on there blaming somebody else for their problems.

Now I can't speak for everybody else, but I know my parents taught me to look no further than the mirror when looking for somebody to blame about the things in my life. The big thing these days is to blame millennials for everything in this world, but did you ever think of who raised them and who allowed them to be the way they are?

Now as a millennial I have a few questions for all of you. Who taught us to think differently than the person next to us? Who are the ones who just had to event the technology that we have today? Who are the ones who created the system of everybody is a winner? We are a product of our generation, but we are a product of what our parents allowed us to be. This isn't something we did all on our own, there was somebody out there who made this the plan for the new generation and it back fired like nobody could have foreseen. I am a firm believer that things can't go on as they have been because quite frankly it's a load of crap, but step one starts with you.

It starts with you fighting for what you believe in. It starts with you not tearing people down for what they think. It starts with you being human- not a statistic. You have the power to change the world and how the world sees everything. It doesn't matter if you are black, white, Latino, Asian, purple, blue, whatever you are, we all belong to one race, the human race. We are all made to be different because if we were all the same we would be living in one of the most boring places. We are made to have different thoughts because if we didn't the world would still be flat and the sun and moon would decide when our days were over.

I believe in you. I believe in me. I believe in us.

StableDiffusion

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
