For those of us who are going back to college or going off to college for the first time, we often think about what our sentiments are when we leave our family and precious furry friends at home. However, though we don't exactly know what our dogs think when we leave, we can imagine what they might feel.

1. Why are all of your things packed??

For those of us who have dogs, we know that confused look—the cock of the head that they give us when we pile our college bins high. It's also that same look that they give us when we start bring those said bins out of the house to pack in the car.

2. Maybe we're going on a ride!!

Once they get past the confusion, they might think that you're all going on a family trip. They want to join all of the fun.

3. Why is my human crying while she pets me?

*Gets distracted by belly rub.*

4. Why did she just say "Stay?"

Why is she saying stay?? I thought I got to go with?! I don't want her to leave!!

5. *Door slams.* Where is she going???

I see my dogs panic when I leave just to go pick up a few thins from the grocery store. However, for some reason it seems worse when you're leaving for college because of the prolonged goodbyes and stacks of bins. They always seem to peer through the front windows in despair.

6. NOOOOOOOOO!!!

When the realization sets in that their human left and might not be coming back for a while.

6. I'm sad.

The realization has set in, the initial shock has worn off, and sadness is almost too overwhelming.

7. *After a few weeks of not seeing their human.* Where is she?? The other humans won't play with me like she did.

There's nothing like a bond between a dog and his/her human.

8. My human is HOME!!!

And then you're home again and your furry best friend couldn't be more happier ...Then the process starts all over again the next time you leave.

Though we don't exactly know what goes on in the minds of our furry friends when we leave for college, this is what I imagine they might feel like when their favorite human walks out the door.
