I pull in the drive-through of Taco Bell and order a crunchwrap supreme, nachos, two Doritos Loco Tacos, and a large Baja Blast. But here's the catch: none of it is for me.
Ever since I was young, I never enjoyed Mexican food all that much. The spice was always too much for me and I stuck to my chicken nuggets from McDonalds. My sensitive pallet couldn't handle the light sprinkling of spices they put in their food at Taco Bell. A bite made my mouth burn in seconds.
My family would take a trip to Taco Bell, but would have to stop at Burger King or McDonalds first so I could get my dinner. I ate my burger and fries while they ate their quesadillas and tacos. It was completely normal to me.
As I grew older, friends wanted Taco Bell and I avidly rejected it. The smell always made me gag, but I went anyway.
Some were curious as to why I disliked the food so much. Friends were always confused and wanted me to try it like it was a magical unicorn I had yet to see. I just never saw the appeal.
Sometimes the smell was so off putting I had no desire to even try it. When I did try some of the food I was so disgusted I knew I would never have it again.
When Taco Bell had an E. coli outbreak in 2006 friends started to think I was on to something. I slowly drew some friends away from Taco Bell, but about a year after, things went back to normal.
Here's what I don't get about all of you Taco Bell fans, do you actually think Taco Bell has real meat? Is it even authentic mexican food?
Just look at this shredded chicken! How is this appetizing? Is this real meat?
Taco Bell should do an investigative food piece like McDonalds did on their YouTube channel.
Another thing that confuses me is that Taco Bell's food often makes people sick. Friends have told me of how the food has made them sick shortly after eating their taquitos and cheesy fiesta potatoes. What is in this food?
In 2014, the company claimed their meat was 88 percent beef with ingredients that can be bought at any local grocery store.
I will remain a hater of Taco Bell, but respect those who enjoy it. Let's live in harmony people.
