How Your Music Taste Reflects Your Personality

This is a response to 25 Songs That Send You, A Millenial, Back To Your Childhood With Just The Opening Notes.

I had always been a music lover, ever since I was a little kid. My parents would play everything from classic rock to jazz around the house, and I would soak it all up like a sponge. As I got older, I started to develop my own taste in music, and it became a defining part of my personality.

One day, I was at a party with some friends, and we were all hanging out in the living room, chatting and sipping on drinks. Someone put on some music, and I immediately perked up when I heard the familiar guitar riffs of my favorite band. I started tapping my foot and singing along, completely lost in the music.

Suddenly, I felt a tap on my shoulder. I turned around to see a girl I didn't know, with a shy smile on her face. "I love that band too," she said. "They're my favorite."

I felt a surge of excitement in my chest. Finally, someone who appreciated the same music as me! We started chatting about our favorite albums, and before I knew it, we were deep in conversation about all kinds of music. It felt like we had known each other for years, and I couldn't believe how easy it was to talk to her.

As the night went on, we kept talking and laughing, and I couldn't help feeling like I had found a kindred spirit. We exchanged numbers before we left the party, and I couldn't stop smiling as I walked home. It was amazing to connect with someone over something as simple as music, and I knew that this was the start of a beautiful friendship.

From that day on, we would send each other songs and albums we were into, and we even went to a few concerts together. It was like we had our own little music community, and it was one of the best things that had ever happened to me.

Studies have shown that there is a significant relationship between musical preferences and personality traits. In fact, researchers have found that people with similar personalities tend to listen to similar types of music. So, what does your music taste say about you?

First, let's explore the different personality traits that have been associated with various music genres. People who enjoy classical music tend to be introverted, imaginative, and creative. They are often open-minded, sensitive, and enjoy their own company. On the other hand, individuals who listen to heavy metal and hard rock are typically extraverted, adventurous, and assertive. They are often rebellious, but also highly independent and self-assured.

Fans of country music tend to be agreeable, friendly, and hardworking. They enjoy being part of a community and often have strong family values. Pop music fans, on the other hand, are typically outgoing, energetic, and highly social. They enjoy being around others and often have a positive outlook on life.

Moving on to hip hop and rap, fans of this genre tend to be highly confident, competitive, and goal-oriented. They are often assertive and may have a strong sense of self-identity. Lastly, those who enjoy jazz tend to be creative, open-minded, and intellectual. They are often introspective and enjoy challenging themselves intellectually.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.
