How To Be Your Chapter's Servant

In the world of Greek life there are many important positions. The people in those positions are very influential and lead the chapters to their full potential. They are there to make decisions, solve problems, and achieve greatness. Out of the many positions however, there is one that stands out to hold great power. It is not a job for the weak at heart or easily frightened. It’s for someone who can fend off hungry sales people and win wars against those who lack common sense. She holds the key to what you most look forward to gaining when joining a sorority. She also holds all the power of whether or not, or when you receive these desires…

That person is your T-Shirt Chair.

Here’s a few of the requirements for this positions in case you are interested in applying:

Have Great Patience

You will get tired of being asked the same questions over and over again. But hey, patience is a virtue.

Stay Calm Under Pressure

There will be times where you’re asked to achieve large tasks under a lot of pressure. Usually there’s a tight deadline and you have to make the unthinkable happen.

Expand Your Memorization Skills

You will have to learn every chapter member’s first and last name. It’s super awkward if someone walks up to you to ask you for something and you have to admit you have no idea who she is. A lot of times you also have to remember their parent’s names because they’re the ones with the credit cards…

Be Available and Flexible

You will get hit with questions like gunfire in a Quentin Tarantino movie. A lot of times these come at the worst possible time of day. You just crawled into bed for the night, you just woke up, you’re in the middle of class, etc. They’re usually asking you to do something you really don’t want to do or don’t have any time to do. But you do it anyways because you love your sisters and your chapter.

Be Assertive

Many companies are going to come after you. They smell fresh blood and come circling like sharks. Sometimes there’s perks to this. You may get some cool free stuff or even find the T-shirt rep of your dreams. But most of the time they’re really annoying and blow up your social media, email, and phone. Don’t be afraid to block one or 10.

Organization is Key

Shirts and other apparel come in and surprise you’re sitting in an ocean of them. You get some of them passed out to those who remember to come pick them up then another order comes in. You’re asked ten years later to find a shirt someone bought and never got. You also have ten different orders pending that you’re supposed to keep up with because you were asked to open them then people took their sweet time buying them.

So if you feel as though you are ready to take on these brain draining tasks you should think about taking the position. Get ready to be asked the same questions a million times. When they say you’re serving your chapter… you really are becoming their servant. However on a high note, a lot of events, people’s happiness, and their bank accounts depend on what you design for that semester so revel in having at least some power.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
