How You Know You’re Obsessed With Christmas

Let’s face it, once Halloween ends the true countdown to Christmas begins!

You start to keep track of how many days until Christmas on every calendar available, like the one on your phone, the one in your room and the ones you see on Twitter every day. As the days go by you get happier and happier and your mood is significantly more positive, and it’s all because you can’t stop thinking about presents and cookies. Some people might despise you on Twitter or Facebook for posting pictures and tweets about how thrilled you are, but do you really care what they think? Nope. You just want to show your followers and friends how passionate you are about the holiday season!

So if you’re someone like me who can’t control their emotions about Christmas, read these fun facts to get you even more excited about what lies ahead this holiday season!

You start the gift buying process.

Well maybe you’re a little more obsessed with the holidays than a normal person and you start your shopping in the middle of the summer. That’s when you know you love Christmas and you can’t control yourself or your credit card. If you’re someone like me, you’ve started going to the mall to look around and buy gifts for your friends and family. November is a prime time to get a head start on your Christmas shopping, so let the swipes of your credit card begin!

You were in tears when the mall put up their huge Christmas tree.

Let’s face it, seeing that huge Christmas tree in the middle of the mall was a realization that Christmas is soon which means: presents, food, cookies, family and did I mention presents? You low-key tried when you saw it up and hoped to God no one saw you. Seeing that made you want to go home and set up your own tree and decorate! Man when is it socially acceptable to put up my tree and decorate?

You’ve started pinning different cookies on Pinterest.

If you love cookies and anything involving sweets, than you’ve started looking at all the different, unhealthy, fattening things to make for the holiday season. If you’re a Pinterest addict like me than you’ve made your new “Christmas Cookie” board and can’t stop drooling over all the cookies you see. Making a “Christmas Cookie” board is rough because you know this means you’ll be gaining a lot of weight this season due to these delicious cookies. Although, you’ve come to terms with the fact that you will get fat, but hey at least you’ll stay warm in January and February. So bring on the homemade cookies mom!

Yes, you’ve started playing Christmas music in the car.

You have no shame listening to the Christmas station on Pandora, or listening to Mariah Carey’s Christmas album. You can’t control yourself when you hear songs like; “All I want for Christmas is you” or “Jingle Bell Rock,” you’ve waited all year to listen to them and now it’s somewhat socially acceptable to. Who cares if you’re at a red light and your windows are down and you’re singing at the top of your lungs: “I don’t want a lot for Christmas there is just one thing I need,” go ahead and let them judge you! Yes, I will be that girl in my car listening to Mariah Carey’s Christmas album and not having a care in the world what others think. I may even start dancing, so I guess you can judge me then.

Wanting to see snow again.

You may hate snow when you’re driving, or when you’re forced to shovel it off your car, but we all love looking at the beautiful white covered trees. Seeing the snow on the Evergreen trees is truly a sight to see and when we think of snow we think of Christmas. Now for as long as I can remember we haven’t had snow on Christmas morning or Christmas Eve (at least in New Jersey) since I was a little kid. I can only pray that maybe this Christmas we’ll have that beautiful snow that we always wished for. Maybe this Christmas will be our version of “White Christmas”, so start praying now everyone!

Christmas movies galore.

Finally we can watch the Christmas movies we love! "White Christmas," "The Grinch," "Home Alone" and the crowd favorite "Elf," it’s about time we bring these back to watch. Watching Christmas movies and curling up on the couch with a cup of hot chocolate is the best feeling ever. Who cares if Thanksgiving hasn’t happened yet, you want to see Will Ferrell play Buddy the Elf and laugh your ass off. How about "White Christmas"? Hearing Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye sing: "I'm dreaming, of a white Christmas, just like the ones I used to know," man that has everyone feeling some type of way. Please don’t even get me started on 25 days of Christmas on ABC Family... If it were up to me Christmas movies would play the first day of November!

Finally being able to order Christmas drinks at Starbucks.

“Hi, I’ll have a grande peppermint mocha,” you can finally order your favorite holiday drink and not feel guilty about it. You’ve waited all year for this, screw pumpkin spice lattes it’s finally time for the Christmas drinks! Peppermint Mocha, Chestnut Praline Latte, and Caramel Brulee Latte are the drinks that only come out once a year, so yes, you're a little overwhelmed whenever you go into Starbucks. You don't know which one to order because they are all so delicious. Enjoy these drinks now! Remember they're limited, so drink up!

Christmas is the best time of the year (at least to me); it’s a time to celebrate friends, family and life so why not get excited a little early? People that get a head start on their Christmas craze are people like me, I love the holiday season! You can’t tell me that when you hear Tchaikovsky’s "The Nutcracker" you don’t dance around and get a little excited? Well maybe it’s just me that thinks that, but hey! Do what makes you happy and if that’s starting your Christmas excitement early go for it! I hope you enjoyed this fun article about Christmas obsessions and I hope you have a great holiday season!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
