If you have a serious case of wanderlust, but you're broke, check these places out where you get the best bang for your buck and won't put a dent in your wallet.

Tip 1:

Sign up for emails from AirFareWatchdog. You plug in your start and end destination and they send you the best deals from different airlines every time they have one. The site instructs you when to book the flight, as well as what airline.

SkyScanner is also a terrific device to search random flights all around the globe and find the cheapest flights.

Tip 2:

State parks are absolutely gorgeous, fun and cheap! Here's a list of some to check out:

Rainbow Springs State Park in Dunnellon, Florida.

Manatee Springs State Park in Chiefland, Florida

Three Sisters Springs in Crystal River, Florida

There are hundreds of more beautiful springs that you can check out here.

Tip 3:

According to FareCompare.com, the best time to book a flight in the U.S. is Tuesday at 3 p.m. eastern time. This is when airlines release the most sales and the competition matches the lower prices so you have more deals to choose from!

Tip 4:

Book with Apple Vacations. This is a lesser known website that offers all inclusive hotels and rates to nearly any destination. You can get round trip tickets, a sweet hotel that includes live entertainment, meals, pools, spa treatments, all at the exotic destination of your choice.

This is an example of an all-inclusive trip to Cancun for an entire week. Just $130 a night for food, amazing location, all hotel amenities and kids under 12 are free!

Tip 5:

Cheap Beaches. According to visitflorida.com, these are the beaches in Florida with the biggest bang for your buck:

Clearwater Beach

Jensen Beach

New Smyrna Beach

Panama City Beach

Tip 6:

Road trip with friends! Find a bunch of friends to pile into someone's car and get away for the weekend. You can all split gas money and stay in a hotel together, or get a tent and camp out somewhere.

All of these examples are tried and true, and are well worth the investment. Happy travels, and bon voyage on a budget!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
