1. Set Limits.
Don't give in to those dining hall cookies, no matter how delicious they might look. Instead, make yourself a healthy salad full of fruits and veggies.
2. Stay healthy.
Go grocery shopping the day you move in. Buy healthy foods, quick grab-n-go meals, and protein bars. Lots of protein bars. Try drinking a cup of tea with honey in the morning to boost your metabolism, or even gargle some salt water.
3. Workout.
You may not like waking up at 7pm before your first class to hit the gym, but trust me, your body will thank you later.
4. Treat yourself.
It's perfectly fine to have one ice cream sandwich every now and then; it's all about moderation. Having a sweet tooth is perfectly normal. The best time to have dessert is on an empty stomach.
5. Drink lots of water, avoid caffeine.
Keep a bottle by your side whenever you're walking to class, between meals, or working out. Water benefits your skin in so many ways and keeps you wide awake throughout the day.
6. Love yourself.
No one is perfect. Love your body and embrace it. Try not to compare yourself to others and think positive, healthy thoughts. We are all unique in our own way.
7. Join a sport.
Whether it's an intramural, club, or NCAA, participate! It can't hurt in the long run. Joining a sport is a great way to make new friends, have fun while exercising, and boost your energy!
8. Go to bed early.
Getting at least 8 hours of sleep can do miracles. Not only will you feel like a million bucks in the morning, but beauty sleep is a real thing.
9. Find a balance between academics and social events.
The first week of school is rough because you are still getting used to adjusting to your new schedule, and it may feel like you don't have time to do everything. Make a list of your priorities and plan accordingly.
10. Finally, make time for yourself.
Your friends may want you to come with them to that one party, but it's important to set aside time for yourself to relax and enjoy the moment. Reflect on your present life and even watch some Netflix.
