This is the Haunted House survival guide. Within this guide, you will find everything you need to survive the spooky creeps of a Haunted House this Halloween season. As a person who has worked in the scaring industry since fifth grade, I can honestly say I know the in's and out's of haunted houses and scare tactics.
What you'll need:
-A large group of friends, including a weak link and a line leader.
-A large bottle of water to soothe your aching throat.
-Karate skills in case of clown emergencies (must be a green belt of higher).
- A large jacket, including a hood so you can shield your eyes.
-Extra mascara, so you do not look like the clowns you are afraid of.
What to expect:
-Unnecessary jumps scares, complete with chainsaws and "dead" children.
- Loud music filled with screams and uncomfortably awkward laughter.
- A room where you are forced to touch things in the dark. This could be velvet wallpaper or spider web.
-The use of fog, strobe lights, and special effects.
-People that get too close and personal.
What not to do:
-Do not mock the actors or act as if you are not afraid at all.
- Do not be the weak link.
-Do not cry. It will only make the workers want to scare you more.
-Do not run. You will trip and fall on your face or you will run into a tree. I am taking from experience here.
-Do not leave your significant other behind. This does not make for a fun ride home.
What to remember:
-Fear and pain are temporary.
-Haunted houses are meant to be fun.
-It will bring your friend group closer together.
-Nothing inside is real.
-You will feel like you accomplished something great once you exit the final room!
With the right mindset and a good amount of people around you, anyone can survive the scares of a haunted house. Whether it is your first haunted house or your twentieth, each one offers something different.
Find one that has the right level of intensity for you and have fun!
