I love seasonal decorations. Whether it be New Year's, Valentine's Day, Fourth of July, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc. seasonal decorations are my favorite. I think I love seasonal decorations because it reminds me of home, and as a college student I love to feel cozy and have a little reminder of home in my room at my sorority house. It's finally fall so here are some ways to spice up a small space, like a dorm room, for fall. I like to put Halloween and Thanksgiving together since they are so close. Here's how to make your room look like it came straight from Pinterest:
1. Add some candy in a cute jar.
First off, everyone loves candy. If you put candy out in your room for anyone, then it is more likely for people to feel invited to come in and chat and grab some candy. Be that person in your hall that everyone loves. Second, putting the candy in a cute jar makes it look fancier than just leaving it in the bag.
2. Make your own banner (or just buy one).
I promise you that it is so easy to DIY a banner for your room. I ended up buying a couple of things that were not together, but then I put them together to make something cute. I bought two different colored tulle pom-pom balls hanging on strings and then taped them on my wall. Then, I bought little pumpkin gift tags and also taped them on my wall. I put them together to make my own little Halloween inspired banner.
3. Buy (or make) your own cute pumpkins.
Who says you have to have a plain orange pumpkin? There are so many cute ideas for pumpkins that you can make that are classy touches to your room. I am not super crafty, so I just bought a decorated pumpkin, with glitter, of course, from Target.
4. Buy signs to hang on your wall.
Like I said before, I am really not that crafty. The $1 section at Target is where to go, people. I found a cute little Trick-or-Treat sign and two Thanksgiving signs to hang on my wall with command strips (you do not want to pay for paint chips y'all). It's simple, easy and cheap to add some fall spice to your walls.
5. Pictures make it personal.
One of the signs I bought that is shown in No. 4, says "Thankful for" and then has clips to add pictures on. I made it personal by adding pictures of me and my roommate. It is seasonal, sweet and a great way to add pictures to remind you of the great college memories you have had with your roomie.
These five easy things on my list totaled under $30, and it was an easy way to make my small space festive for fall. It is a lot easier than you think to make your room look picture perfect for Halloween and Thanksgiving. Add your own flair and make it your own.
