This is a guide on how to road trip within 5 days in the beautiful state of Colorado and see it all. Fly into Denver and let your journey begin. Grab a hotel room, a tent or an RV and let this country show you its beauty. The top 11 things to see, hike, climb and dip your feet in.
1. Downtown Denver -- Just like every other major city, there is good food, great shops and an eclectic vibe within this city. Stop for a quick bite downtown, Mellow Mushroom is my suggestion, and start your road trip!
2. Ft. Collins -- This little town is booming with groovy shops, fun eateries, awesome street art, hippie stores, and beautiful parks surrounding this town. Make sure to grab a taco at Big City Burritos and a cinnamon roll at Silver Creek Cafe.
3. Estes Park -- The beautiful Rocky Mountain National Park is within this little town at the bottom of the mountains. This town is a must see and worth two days of your trip. Stop and grab a burger downtown and hike the mountain and falls of the National Park. The scenery here and on the way there is breath taking. Step out of the city and take a break from reality and breathe in the fresh mountain air here.
4. Red Rocks Amphitheater -- I've been to music festivals and concert venues all around the country, but this place has topped every single one of them. The sound and environment is unlike anything else. The views are incredible and the people on stage are talented beyond means. That's why they're singing at Red Rocks. Whoever is playing the night you're there, buy a ticket and get lost in the music and the Red Rocks.
5. Boulder -- This little city is home of University of Colorado at Boulder and the college scene has taken this town by storm. It is a young ,popping ,musically , artsy fun filled town. Grab a tube and float down the river that flows right through the city. Stop for incredible food at the local farmers market every Wednesday. Sip a tea at the famous Tea House. Drive through campus and see why every student chooses this incredibly located university. Drive up to the flat irons. Stop at the "Carousel of Happiness" and listen to the story. Talk to a local and find even more things to do. The shopping here is great! They have something for everyone.
6. Colorado Springs -- Whip in the Air Force Academy located right below the mountains and see why everyone there is crazy about it and passionate about what they do there. Take Eagle Pass to see great views from there. Drive downtown and eat at a fun restaurant. Pull into Helen Hunt Falls and climb to the top to view a beautiful waterfall. Next stop at Seven Falls and see the lights underneath it light up at night time. One of the prettiest things you'll ever see.
7. Manitou Springs -- Face your fears and hike the Incline! The views from up top are like nothing else. Take water and be brace! Ride the train that goes through Pike's Peak. The ride is gorgeous and is only a 3 hour trip! Shop downtown in Manitou and see the Castle. The stores are unique and very historic. Travel back in time and relax here!
8. Garden of the Gods -- Hop in your car and drive through this magnificent park of massive tall red rocks that will truly take your breath away. The trails and drive through here can easily have you wishing you could stay forever. This is a must see park and is free to get in! Stop at the Balanced Rock on the way out and hike around the top of it!
9. Royal Gorge- Drive to Canyon City and see the Royal Gorge. If you're brave enough you can take a rafting trip through the gorge or soar across it on a zip line! I highly encourage the zip line tour. The adrenaline, views, and experience is unlike anything else.
10. Vail -- The most enchanting, awe inspiring beautiful place I have stepped foot in. Grab lunch at the restaurant above the Gondola ticket center and then soar up the mountain on a Gondola and see why everyone is crazy about this place. You're then on top of the world and realizing how beautiful our country truly is. Grab dessert at the restaurant up top and soak in the incredible views. Take a ride on the rollercoaster that soars down the mountain, do the ropes course within the trees, and zip line through Gods beautiful country.
11. Breckenridge -- Much like Vail, a ski resort area, but much more of a young crown vibe. The bars and night scene are worth talking about. Come here for a fun night, good shopping, beautiful scenery, and fresh mountain air.
