How To Tell If You Actually Want A Relationship Or If It's Just The Season

You're seeing all these cute couples around town and you're still a single pringle. Do you feel weird not being in a relationship or is it just because everyone else seems to be in one?

Oh yes, it's that time of year! It's getting a bit chilly, the holiday lights and decorations are being put up, Christmas music blasting in the background, and yes you guessed it, couples coming out of nowhere. It's 'cuffing szn' as they say but are you wanting to be cuffed because you're wanting a relationship or just because it's that time of year again.

Let's be real, we all want to take some cute insta-worthy pictures or be snuggled up drinking some hot cocoa and watching some Christmas movies with a significant other. 'Tis the season?

But let's start asking some questions that we need answers to…

1. It's Cold; do you need a significant other or just a cuddle buddy?

Giphy

Yeah a boyfriend/girlfriend would be nice to cuddle with but there's also always extra blankets or some grab your pup and cuddle up with them?

2. So many cute pic opportunities downtown; who can you share these memories with?

Giphy

First of all, friends. Your girl gang or other pals are always down to spend time with you. AND if it entails, some cute candid photo ops?? Even better.

3. Cute Christmas Baskets; Do you want a significant other to spoil or do you just want to do it because it's the upcoming trend?

Giphy

Yes, definitely agree. Lots of hype and super cute idea. Buuut why don't you just do a secret Santa exchange with your friends and exchange some cute Christmas baskets. Put a budget and fill that basket with goodies.

4. Going home for the holidays; Are your family members going to ask if you have a significant other AGAIN?

Yup. It'll happen every year. Don't just look for a boyfriend/girlfriend because you want your family to stop asking. Because trust me, they'll ask any opportunity they get.

Just because almost everyone around you is in a relationship doesn't mean you need to be in one. Enjoy your time spending it with your friends and making new memories. People come and go just like seasons so why stress about finding someone now? Save your money, cuddle your pets, take cute holiday edition pics with your pals, tell your family that school takes up too much time as it is, now imagine adding another person to the mix, and remember that you sometimes you may not want a relationship. Sometimes you just want the benefits of a relationship and not the work it comes with. A relationship comes when you least expect it, and if it comes during the holiday season, then hey, good for you. Until then? Sing some Christmas karaoke with your friends and enjoy the holidays.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
