To Every Young Relationship

Young love is powerful and unlike any other.

Young love is powerful and unlike any other. For every young person in love, you know what I’m talking about. At a time when you are trying to figure out your future, you are also making sacrifices and putting someone else’s feelings before your own.

Becoming an adult is hard enough as it is, and it's even harder when you are always focusing on someone else. If you are with someone who treats you right, then enjoy every moment. There will be hard times, but being young and in love is a gift. It is special when you have someone there to comfort you. It does not matter if you are nervous about the future or stressed out over homework; that person is always there.

However, for those of you unsure about your relationships, here is my advice:

1. Remember that you are young and have your whole life to be in love. I know firsthand; I left a bad relationship and found something much better.

2. It is okay to leave. It is hard to see beyond tomorrow sometimes, but things will get better. You just have to let them.

3. If you are with someone who does not treat you right, it is time to realize your value. Imagine a close friend of yours and ask yourself if you would want them to be treated the same way. If the answer is no, then it’s time to think about a change.

Sometimes we fall in love with people who aren’t necessary right for us. This happens often, especially when we are young. Remind yourself that love is about enjoyment and happiness, not about constant tears and heartache. As someone who has been in good and bad relationships, I understand how both can be. I know how hard leaving is, but the longer you stay the harder it becomes. If you stay with someone who does not treat you right, you are missing your chance to be with someone who will respect you.

The power of love is overwhelming, but do not forget what relationships are about. They are about being with one person. They are about being with someone who values you. Be with someone who lifts you up when you are down and tells you how amazing you are. Love is about sacrifice. If you are sacrificing and not getting anything in return, then I am here to tell you that you deserve better. It is time to enjoy your youth and be excited about the future. If you leave heartache behind, it will eventually be replaced with love. After all, we only get this one chance to live, so spend it with people who know your worth.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
