Since most of us are in school, we really do not need a lesson on how to procrastinate. We are practically professionals at procrastinating. The thing about procrastination is that most times we just do not feel the need to complete the tasks we need to finish (how about that research paper due on Thursday?) The point is that when we procrastinate it does not always have to be unproductive. When it comes to procrastination, it is easy to slip into a Netflix and junk food coma on your bed, but instead, try some of these tips out!
1. Clean
Most of us live on confined places that even the smallest amount of clutter can make your entire living space feel cluttered, so while you are pushing off studying for your exam, pick up your room. Maybe the cleanliness will make you feel inspired.
2. Read
I know, I know…reading? We do so much reading for classes, so who wants to read some more? But look, I am not suggesting you read your statistics book. Read something you want to read… for fun.
3. Go for a Run
If you are anything like me, exercising is the last thing you want to do; however, some people really enjoy it and find it liberating. Besides, all of our bodies could use a little TLC. Plus, a work out always makes you feel great afterwards!
4. Talk to Someone--no, really, talk to them.
By this I mean, put down the phone and technology and have a genuine conversation with someone. Really listen to what they are saying and do not be afraid to talk openly back. Engage yourself with another human through face to face interaction.
5. Skim through Social Media
And this is where you do not take my advice seriously because, let’s be honest, social media is addicting and since when is that productive? If social media is that addicting, then use your time on it to be productive. Instead of looking at videos of kittens, maybe look at the different articles and interactions that are buzzing in your career field. Stay current.
