How To Make Your Dorm Cute And Organized

If you're anything like me, you know that a cute, clean dorm room will make you happier and more productive.

Here a few tips to help you stay organized and have the cutest dorm in the hall.

Loft your bed.

In some halls/schools you can't do this but if you can, I highly recommend it. It gives you a lot more floor space - this way, you and your roomie will have set sides of the room.

Get a bulletin board.

As you can see in the picture above, you'll have lots of ugly brick wall space to cover and this is a good way to start to. You can cover it with important things to remember or just things that remind you of home. Plus, they can be really cute and they stay out of your way because they stick to the wall.

Buy wall decals.

Obviously you're not allowed to paint the walls (unless you go to a really awesome school), but you can buy cute decals just about anywhere. Polka dots are very in right now.

Decorative pillows are a must.

They just make everything feel cozier. Plus you can get them in tons of different shapes, sizes and colors. They are an adorable way to make your bed cute. If you have them on your bed at home, bring those ones! It will make you feel more at home. Plus, if you have a windowsill, you can set them there and even decorate that part of your room.

Cover your walls.

If you bring picture frames but plan on sitting them on your desk they will start to get in your way quickly. Or, if you're like me, every time you move you will knock one over. Instead, get some command strips and make a collage on your wall.

Hang a tapestry.

These come in tons of different colors and sizes. You can find one perfect for you. They're an easy way to cover a large chunk of your wall.

DIY as much as you can.

Stuff is expensive and as college students, all of our budgets are tight. Buy reusable stencils, $1 bottles of acrylic paint, and wait for the 1/2 off canvases sale at JoAnn's. Even if you're not artsy, there's quick and easy things you can do.

Use Mason Jars as holders.

They're cheap, come in tons of different sizes and you can decorate them however you want. They are perfect for holding pencils, paper clips, makeup brushes and so many other things. Not to mention the fact that they are so cute painted.

Get a cactus.

I know you're thinking "okay, she's lost me" but seriously they are so cute and only need to be watered every 3 months or so, so they're almost impossible to kill. Succulents are a good choice too. You can replant both of these into pots that match your dorm. Don't you dare tell me looking at these don't make you happy.

There are so many different ways to make your dorm feel like an actual space and not a shoebox. Your experience will be much better if you like the space you're living in, you will be spending most of the year here. Make it reflect you!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
