The end of the semester is fast approaching. Exams, essays, and presentations are flooding into your planner and trying to take over your life. You might feel as though there is no way to complete everything on your to-do list. Focus on this advice, however, and you can and will get through this chaotic time. Christmas break will be here before you know it!
1. Get some sleep
Pulling an all nighter may seem like a good idea at the time, but in reality it is not very good for your health. College students should aim for at least eight hours of sleep a night, but if that is not possible make sure you are getting as much as you can. Without sleep, your brain will not function to the best of its ability. You need rest to be a happy and healthy human!
2. Make time for yourself
It's perfectly okay to take a break and watch some Netflix. One episode of "Grey's Anatomy" will not cause you to fail your exams. It might actually be just what you need as you prepare for an evening in the library! If you don't take some time to relax and relieve some stress, it will be hard to stay fully invested in your schoolwork and busy schedule.
3. Prioritize exercise
While getting to the gym or taking an hour or two to venture outside might seem like things you cannot fit into your busy schedule, your mind and body will definitely thank you for exercising. Working out will actually help you de-stress and will help increase your focus through exam season. Grab your ipod or a friend, head outside, and work off some stress!
4. Make time for your friends and family
Don't fret! Your friends are stressed out, too! For your own sanity, make some time to hang out with your BFF's. Rent a movie. Go on a hike. Order a pizza and share some giggles. If you're ever feeling too overwhelmed, make sure you're keeping your family in the loop, too. A call home will give you something to look forward to after all this stress!
5. Avoid procrastination
This one is kind of a big deal. Even when you have more assignments than you can count, make sure you are staying on top of them. Make a to-do list with a realistic timeline and goals. Try and stay as on top of your work as much as possible. Your grades, your future, and your sanity will thank you!
6. Stay positive!
At the end of the day, make sure that school doesn't take over your life. Good grades and academic success are important, but remember, so is your mental health. It may be difficult at times, but try to keep a positive attitude! No matter what your final grades are, remember that you are learning important things. The sum of your college experiences, good and bad, will help mold you into the wonderful person you are destined to be!
