Whether its a simple jean jacket or a flannel adding some kind of layer to a simple fit and take it to the next level or fashionable. The importance of layering allows more depth to an outfit, but also adds a different texture or color to make you stand out. For example: you have a plain white t shirt with black ripped jeans, something to add color and make the outfit pop would be a dark blue flannel. You can cuff the sleeve, button it, keep it unbuttoned, or tie it around the waist the options are endless to add a bit of something else to a rather boring outfit.
Staple Shoes

Even if your outfit is just a hoodie and sweatpants to make people believe you actually today is wear a nice pair of shoes that stand out to the rest of your outfit, but nothing too clashing. By clashing I mean wearing neon green shoes with an all black outfit, Instead wear all white shoes with an all black outfit it is a subtle pop. Or try to match your shirt with your shoes, so if you are wearing a maroon shirt match your shoes with the shirt.
Accessories!!!

Rings, bracelets, necklaces, watches, or hats can give your outfit that extra step it needs. The important factor to remember is to not over accessorize, if you have too many bracelets on and necklaces your body looks too busy. You can have one or two bracelets and a necklace and its not too busy. Maybe add a ring to one finger on each hand, and your ready for the day.
Don't be afraid to experiment

Even though it may seem intimidating to try something new it all comes with the risk and it might even look good! You could try a tight crop top with baggy sweatpants and a fanny pack over the chest. Depending on your comfort levels that kind of outfit would be a good start to gaining confidence or if you're sick of your old style it is a good tester outfit to find what you're comfortable with.
Stick to Neutral Colors

If you are too scared to try new things stick to white, black, browns, or tans. It is easy to match these colors together with out clashing to much. As well as, still making it look as if you tried to look decent for the day. White and black are your safest options, but depending on your skin tone wearing browns and tans can work in some ways.
