Have you ever wondered what made you pay more attention to your surroundings? You learn not every action deserves a response. Everything around you becomes questioned. Essentially you experience the highs and lows and often make mistakes and learn from them. They are all a part of life, but honestly it's much bigger than that. You're maturing. Some say maturity comes with age, I believe it comes when you change you're surroundings. You see there is never self-growth without change. The signs of maturity are more obvious than you believe.
1. You think about the future every day.
Honestly, I have never been more scared to graduate college. It's the fear of the unknown that gets me. How long will it take me to get where I want to in life? Will I have a successful career? Will my degree pay off?
2. Your feelings have become more important than others.
Everything truly changes when you start saying things such as "I don't care," or "That's not my business." If you ask me I say "idk" every other text message.
3. You would rather have a better quality of friends and not quantity.
When you mature, your friends tend to either stay or leave. It's all about doing better and wanting the same for your friends. No one has time to do the same things every day.
4. Self confidence grows.
I moved two hours away from my home town junior year of college. I haven't looked back since. I wake up everyday and look at myself in a different light, I no longer care what someone has to say about me. Its all about what I want, and need.
5. You stop calling mom and dad five times a day.
I have went down to calling about two or three times. That's an accomplishment. I used to call for everything under the sun. I have even asked my mom what kind of gas I put in my car, even though I have been doing it for five years now.
Whether you fit two or all five on this list, it's a sign that you are growing. I commend you. Maturity happens in different stages of life, you make mistakes and learn from them. I know I have. Don't be hard on yourself, you are doing better than expected and some don't like it but its okay. You know what they say, "You do what you want, when your poppin'!"
