Is It Possible For The Game To Get Better?

I have been playing Pokemon Go since launch (minus service disruptions) and I really love this game. That’s not to say it’s perfect because it’s not. Far from perfect honestly. The game suffers from many issues, and for some that make it not fun anymore and unplayable. I have come up with a list of ways to make Pokemon Go better. Maybe Niantic will see this, one can only hope.

Better Communication:

When Pokemon Go first came out Niantic has absolutely no communication with the public on any social media. About a month-ish after, they created a Twitter and Facebook page to let people know of current updates. Sadly other than that, some fun videos and sharing of plays pictures thats about it. There is no real major info or actual contact with Niantic. It is getting better but please work on this. It can’t be that hard to hire a couple extra media managers. What I would like to see is a more general timeframe for when we can see certain updates, actually try and answer some plays questions, and when an update is announced have more follow up with it.

Listen and Talk To The Fans:

Seriously Niantic, the fans have a lot of great ideas. I understand that there is no way to talk to and listen to millions of fans worldwide. What I think they should do is start a small collective of special fans/players and talk to them. As an example, back in 2012, Saban Brands created the Power Force, A collective of super fans of Power Rangers. With these select group of fans, Saban Brands sends them secret information pertaining anything Power Rangers and ask for help and feedback at times with said information. They also ask that the Power Force help spread a positive image of the Power Rangers Brand and correct info of what they can share. This can be easily done if they choose a few select people from every major country where the game has been released. Another good start is for Niantic to surf Reddit’s The Silph Road and even talk to its creators. Based on all the data they have collected, they do know a thing or two that the general public may not.

New Tracking NOW:

When the game first launched we had the footstep tracking. Each Pokemon would have from 1 to 3 footsteps under them to show how far away from your current location they were. From there you had to figure out if you had to go North, South East or West to find them and as you got closer the footsteps would count down till you were close enough for the Pokemon to appear. Then that went away and we were without any official tracking. Obviously, this pissed a lot of people off and even pushed many to stop playing altogether as it became impossible for some to find Pokemon. At the beginning of August, it was announced that a new tracking went into Beta. We know how it works and what it will do for the game, but that's it. We have no idea when it will come out, but it needs to be soon. The game has already lost a lot of players just because of the tracking issue alone. This new tracking sounds pretty legit and may even bring back older players. Again, this needs to be soon though because the longer Niantic waits, the more people will get angry and quit.

Fix Pokemon Go Plus (PGP) NOW:

The Pokemon Go Plus (PGP) is the Bluetooth add-on device that was released on September 16th. The purpose of it is to allow you to catch Pokemon and collect PokeStops while now having your phone with the game on in hand. It also keeps track of you distance for hatching eggs and collecting buddy candies. Sadly the PGP is not perfect at all. As previously written the PGP is having massive issues with a majority of Android devices and minor issues with iOS devices. These issues mean that the $34.99 device is nothing more than an expensive piece of plastic for the many who can't use it. No one at the moment knows why it's having so many issues across so many devices and since Niantic isn't talking about it outside of general “How To Fix” errors that don't fix anything, it leaves the situation open to wide speculation. While the PGP isn't required at all to play the game, I like many bought it to enhance my experience with the game, to only be filled with more disappointment.

More PokeStops:

If you live in a city then you are blessed with many PokeStops to choose from when playing the game. Unfortunately, there are many many people worldwide that live in more rural or country areas that are virtual ghost towns. Some people have to travel miles upon miles to even see 1 PokeStop if they are lucky. PokeStops have been a blessing and a curse since launch. Many small businesses that are close to them have stated they have increased in business because of them, while some places like parks and other public areas have been overrun with people who either through negligence or on purpose, destroy property. What I propose is the adding PokeStops to places that hopefully shouldn't cause trouble. One way this can be done is add them to street corners worldwide and add A LOT. This would not only help those in rural/ country areas but allow for more people to play who may not be as mobile as the rest. It would allow kids, and families, and people with disabilities to go and enjoy the game without hopefully having to go too far from home. Now some may say that's “unfair” but is it really that fair that a park could have 20 PokeStops but then the rest of the town have nothing? Or for the entire town or small city to have none at all?

Better Spawning:

First and foremost I’M SO SICK OF PIDGEY AND WEEDLE! These are 2 of the most common Pokemon currently and they are a nuisance. When you first play the game, like always, it's new and exciting and you are like “Oh man I’ll never get tired of catching these guys!”. Well, guess what? I did and so did others. While the current selection of Pokemon is lacking and of course some are supposed to be rarer than others, they need to change it up a bit. Is it so hard to ask for other bug types to appear where Weedle are already spawning? Or what about having Meowth and Growlithe to appear in city limits like they show in the anime? There were also talks about the weather playing a factor in what Pokemon spawn. While I know nothing of coding or how much time and info it would need to do that, I would love to actually see more water types show up when it's raining, or if it's a thunderstorm to see more electric types and so on. Yes, the idea is to go out and explore but not everyone has a huge park to go to or a major public area where Pokemon currently appear like crazy. Over time the spawning and nest migrations have been improving though. Hopefully, when the next Generation of Pokemon are introduced, the additional variety will help also.

Do you agree with any of these ideas? Do you have any new ideas that I didn’t come up with?

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
