If you don't know who Confucius is, allow me to introduce you. I don't dabble in philosophy often but the man was a genius. An ethical one at that, his words have inspired me to better myself and as a result, I think it will better those around me. The more good you put into the world, the more good can come out. The way Confucius suggests one deals with their issues within themselves and from the outside world seem so simple but are easier said than done. Practicing his ways until they become your natural way of problem solving can change your life. His words can comfort one when no one else gets it. The worst feeling in life, in my opinion, is regret. I can only hope to relinquish regret for the things I cannot change and learn from my mistakes to refrain from repeating them. Confucius' ideals equivocate one with peace of mind that it is okay to make mistakes, as long as you do not make them again with the knowledge that it is wrong. The following words of wisdom said by Confucius will hopefully implement some new ideas for positivity within you as they have for me:
"Before you embark on a journey of revenge, dig two graves."
"Be not ashamed of mistakes and thus make them crimes."
"Respect yourself and others will respect you."
"Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it."
"To see what is right and not do it, is want of courage."
"He who will not economize will have to agonize."
"I head and I forget. I see and I remember. I do and I understand."
"Ignorance is the night of the mind, but a night without moon and star."
"It does not matter how slowly you go so long as you do not stop."
"Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in getting up every time we do."
"What the superior man seeks is in himself; what the small man seeks is in others."
"When anger rises, think of the consequences."
"When we see men of a contrary character, we should turn inwards and examine ourselves."
"Wheresoever you go, go with all your heart."
"Hold faithfulness and sincerity as first principles."
"People may be made to follow a path of action, but they may not be made to understand it."
"The superior man is modest in his speech, but exceeds in his actions."
"The superior man does not set his mind either for anything or against anything; what is right, he will follow."
"Things that are done, it is needless to speak about... Things that are past, it is needless to blame."
"What you do not want done to yourself, do not do to others."
"When you have faults, do not fear to abandon them."
There are so many more words that have been formed into thoughts by this man who I have deemed a prophet. Not that I have the power to do, that but with little religion and a lot of curiosity about the world I think that's what he is especially for someone like me. So next time you want to quit your job or brag about it on Facebook, think about Confucius. Next time you run into your ex and consider running them over, think about Confucius. Next time you want to scream about the world, do it, but then think about Confucius
