Are you looking for ideas for your home design or renovation? Do you want something that is not only trending but also comprises a character of its own? Do you like modern interiors but think that they lack color? If yes, then this read is just for you!
A unique but equally beautiful interior design style that is gaining popularity these days is the Urban Boho design. Boho or bohemian style has been trending for quite some time and it features lots of colors and the absence of structure with layers of colors, textures, and patterns. However, the new Urban Boho trend adds a modern twist to the styleby mixing and matching elements from Bohemian and Modern interior design styles.
So, let’s look at ways by which you can create an Urban Boho interior design for your home. We will be sharing some of the coolest interior design projects by Space Factor.
Add Lots Of Colorful Elements And Textures
One of the most important and basic requirements for a Bohemian design is to add lots of colorful elements in the design whether it is for the sofas, cushions, rugs, and other decorative items. But since in a traditional Bohemian design, there is lack of structure, in an Urban version of it, try to add things in some form of structure. You can add colorful elements that have geometric patterns to give some structure to them. Instead of adding too many layers of colored elements, try to add just 2 to 3 layers. Also, focus on a maximum of 3 to 4 colors in bold Bohemian patterns instead of displaying a flood of different colors.
Add Colorful And Huge Wall Art
One way you can add color to this design is to incorporate it in large, huge wall art while keeping the other items neutral and modern. In the following example of a design by Space Factor, you can see a colorful wall art that is the main focus of the space and the other elements just complement it. It adds the touch of Boho that you need in an otherwise modern area.

Add Leather Elements
One way to transform the Boho design into an Urban Boho one is to try to limit the colorful elements and replace them with some other earthly element or texture. And what better earthly texture than leather! You can incorporate leather sofas in the lounge and freshen them up by adding lots of colorful patterned cushions, rugs, and curtains. In the bedroom, you can choose to make a leather armchair or a relaxing sofa while your bed linen features bohemian patterns and colors. These colors, patterns, and leather will all work really well to create a space that has its own personality and character.
Use Colorful Wallpapers For One Wall Of The Room
We know that in a Bohemian design style, often there are eclectic patterns and geometrical shapes on wallpapers in a room. But to make it a bit modern, just limit that to one wall of the room. To add some structure to such a living room, keep the sofas neutral and choose a Boho rug to complete the look. As can be seen in the following example, the scenic wallpaper is complemented with neutral sofas and earthly elements in the form of green plants. Different forms of modern lighting create the perfect urban touch to this interior.

Add Raw Wooden Elements
Just like leather brings a modern and earthly touch to a bohemian style interior, raw wooden elements and textures also do a similar job. You can add this kind of a raw wooden texture as wall paneling or choose some piece of furniture for this purpose. In the next example of a living room, notice how a raw wooden coffee table is used that complements the colorful elements of the room in a very subtle but definitive manner. The floors are also wooden but in a very light and texture-free form. On this floor, the dark wooden textured table stands out perfectly.

Use Geometric Patterned Floor Tiles
One way that you could add a modern touch to a traditional bohemian design is to use eclectic and geometric patterns of tiles not for the walls, but for the floors. When the floors are patterned, then leave the walls neutral and simple to give a completely modern touch to this style. Consider the following example of a kitchen design by Space Factor where they have used a black and white geometric pattern for the floor tiles which are complemented beautifully with the wooden textured walls and cabinets. There are a couple of colorful wall art that adorns the walls in a subtle manner. Notice how the kitchen fixtures and lighting are kept modern to create this ultimate Urban Boho design.
