Social media has become a part of our daily lives. I know a lot of people who are constantly trying to gain interaction on their online profiles. However, some people are going about it in the wrong way. Call me your social media superhero because with over 5.1K followers on Pinterest, I am here to show you how to increase traffic to your Pinterest account. Using Pinterest is a phenomenal way to share your articles as well! I never expected to become such a success on the site but I am very grateful for what I have learned in the process of growing my account over the four years I have had it. My Pinterest is @ofclglitterbabe if you would like to check it out!
1. Bio! Bio! Bio!
Some people do not realize how essential a short biography is to their online presence. It gives your audience a chance to get to know you, even if they don't know you in real life. The biggest mistake people tend to make is leaving their bio blank or uninteresting. Creating a bio is not as difficult once you follow the formula I use. Name, age, and a short description of your interests and/or hobbies. Make sure to avoid using slang terms and irrelevant information. It may be helpful to include the link to your website if you have one. Doing so will enable you to create a business account. I linked my Twitter to the account so mine could be changed into a business account. Linking your other social media accounts also helps your friends to find you. Once your account transforms into a business account, you have access to a variety of new features.
2. Track Peak Times
Managing a Pinterest business account enables you to view your analytical data. This lets you see what days and times your followers are most active. Through multiple charts, it also provides information about how many views, shares, and other interactions your pins receive. This is helpful when determining the best time to pin. Yes, there is a best time to pin. Depending on your account's unique data, you may discover that most of your followers are active in the evening. This is a signal that you should plan to spend some time pinning during that period. If you have an actual business such as an online boutique where you list items for sale, Pinterest also makes it possible to see which pins your customers are the most interested in. This way, you can adjust your pins to better suit your target audience.
3. Take Time To Get Organized
My biggest tip is to organize your boards. In my opinion, boards are better when they have unique names and are separated into categories. Users are still pushing for a new subcategory feature which would enable boards within other boards. Pinterest allows you to change the cover image of each board and also move boards around. I try to keep my most popular ones at the top of my profile so people can find those ones easier. I also tend to pin to those boards more since they receive the most interest from my audience. If you created your Pinterest account before the update last year, you may have experienced a time when the app did not tell you when you have already pinned something. If you're one of those people, it is a smart idea to go through your pins and delete all the duplicates. I also find myself deleting the pins that I am no longer interested in. Another helpful feature is that you are able to move pins from one board to another. This helps when you accidentally pin something to the wrong one. We wouldn't want puppies on a food board, now would we? Conveniently, you can move up to 50 pins simultaneously.
4. Regularly Pin Rich Pins
You may be wondering, what exactly is a "rich pin?" Basically, they are pins that provide information without having to click on to the actual website. There are six types including apps, articles, place pins, products, recipes, and movies. For example, an app pin will have the download button, product pins will have pricing and availability information, and movie pins include a cast list and reviews right on the pin itself. It is also important to ensure that each pin with a link attached is working. There is nothing worse than a broken link that leads to an error screen or nothing at all.
5. Stay Active
To put it simply, pin a lot. The more you pin, the more people will interact with you and see your stuff. If I see something that I have tried on someone else's board such as a good recipe, I will often share a tip I learned while making it. Getting involved with followers is a great way to build your fan-base and make new friends. I have made a couple good friends on there whom I sometimes collaborate with if I am pin-testing something.
7. Pin Aesthetically-Pleasing Pins
Each of my boards has a theme and it is a smart idea to keep it that way. Also, delete any captions that are in a different language, contain only symbols or add your own captions to any pin that does not already have one. I like to tag my Pinterest account on each one so that it creates more exposure if someone only sees that pin and wants to check out the rest of my account.
