As you live your life, you are constantly changing on the inside and out. You grow through new experiences, interacting with different people, and trying new things. You change whether it is for better or worse. Everything around you impacts who you are as a person. Have you ever stepped back and tried to imagine how people see you?
Sometimes we get so caught up in life that we forget to take a step back and look at ourselves. Who are you? Are you the person you want to be? Ask yourself, “If I met myself, would I like myself?”
In our generation, we get so caught up in the things we have to do, the places we have to go and the people we have to see. We spend the majority of our day looking at our reflections on screens. Our minds are consumed with how many people ‘like’ our photos on Instagram or how many ‘favorites’ our tweets get.
Look up from your phone screen and take a step away from the bustle of life to really evaluate yourself.
In order to grow as a person, look within yourself to observe your emotions and thoughts that you have throughout the day. Be conscious of your behavior in situations. Look at how you interact with people and how people respond to you. Practice introspection, a way of looking within yourself.
Contemplate your thoughts, emotions and behaviors throughout the course of the day. Are you happy with how you conducted yourself in a certain situation? If you detected any weaknesses in your behavior, then you must take responsibility for yourself and face the weaknesses head-on. Take mental notes of these instances.
When you realize your weaknesses, you can move past them. Acknowledging your weaknesses is a step in the right direction to becoming a person you want to be. Don't be afraid to admit to yourself there are some things you could and should work on.
Face your weaknesses head-on. Look at the negative patterns in your life and remove them. Visualize ways you could have acted or thought differently in a particular situation. You can then approach situations with a different perspective.
When you learn to overcome your weakness you begin to be more self-aware. With a greater sense of self-awareness, you become better connected with the world and people around you. You have turned your weaknesses into strengths.
You are constantly changing. With the pressures of school and constantly being exposed to new things and atmospheres, everything around you impacts who you are. But sometimes you can lose yourself in the bustle of life. Instead of looking to the world outside of yourself for excuses of why you have become who you are, look inside of yourself. You are responsible for your actions, attitude, and overall being. Your life is up to you, so do something about it.
