During this season of thankfulness, there is often a push to identify with something and be grateful for it. There are sections of dinners devoted to this, children's book and even messages at church.
And this isn't for no reason, being thankful is a very important thing to be if you're going to be anything. I would consider myself as a grateful person.
I think there is something to be said for those who can live like this and be grateful all the time every day. I am not one of those people, I get crabby and upset and put blinders up to everything I should be thankful for. Learning to like a grateful life is something I think everyone should do and not just during November or December.
Being grateful or thankful doesn't mean you have to be something your not or do things extravagant every day. I think that journaling or writing down what you're thankful for every day is a great place to start because when forced to write things down you may notice a pattern of things or people you're thankful for and adjust your life accordingly or give the appropriate thanks to who deserves it.
Some of the things I like to do to show the people I care about that I am thankful for them are things such as texts every now and then to express my gratitude and appreciation for these people. It may feel awkward at first but I have never gotten a negative response, just proving it brightens other people's days when you show your gratitude.
I also, like to pick up my friend's favorite candy or something like a movie that they've mentioned a few times. I just show to the people you care about, that you listen and are thankful to have them.
This November, I hope you start a new trend of a thankful heart and mind.
