If any of you guys are like me, I tend to look better in selfies than in candid photos. I am usually tripping, sporting a double chin, or look like that weirdo cousin you barely know. These tips and tricks can help even the most awkward of us.
1. Posture is everything.
I slump a lot. Don't do it. Focus on opening your chest as if there was like an iron man beam of light shooting out of it instead of sucking in.
2. Face a light source.
There are rarely odd shadows on the red carpet.
3. Smile with your eyes.
And along with that, practice your smile. Touch your tongue to the back of your teeth to omit any forced and dopey grins.
4. Find your "good side."
Well, any side is your good side. But instead of looking at a camera head on, opt for a 3/4 turn featuring one of the sides of your face. People have found that people's left sides typically appear more slimming.
5. Look at a light source, use Visine, or raise your eyebrows.
Keep your eyes closed until the last possible second. Squinch the bottoms of your eyes while keeping the top lids relaxed to make them more alluring. Play with these tricks to make your eyes twinkle!
6. Think of a funny thought instead of forcing your smile.
Saying 'Money' is a good way to construct a soft, believable smile instead of cheese.
7. Hold a prop to split focus, creating a more interesting picture.
8. Try and have the picture taken slightly above you than from below.
9. Darken brows to help frame your face, and a brighter lipstick can make your teeth appear whiter.
10. Either angle your forehead slightly towards the camera while elongating your neck, or even out the chin and forehead while dropping your shoulders back.
These are double chin fighters. Leaning into the camera is actually slimming!
11. Play with poses and practice different looks!
What is your "go too" photo stance? Standing in first position, or slightly angling your body away are some slimming ideas.
12. In group shots, make sure you are in the same plane as the other people in the shot.
This way, you won't be closer to the camera and dis-proportionally larger.
13. Fluff up your hair right before the camera to create the illusion of a stunning 'do.
14. Look slightly above the camera lens instead of forcing the stare.
YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL! NOW go get it!!
