How To Survive Finals Week

Final exams are finally here. There is no rewinding back the clock. There is no escaping. It's time to stop watching Netflix. It's time to stop going out. It is time to scramble and find a seat a the library. You may have attended every single class of the semester or you may have only shown up on the first day of syllabus week, Here are a few quick tips to survive finals week:

1. Stop procrastinating and start studying

Time is running out. There is no more time left to procrastinate. Your grade depends on it. Your GPA depends on it. Your future depends on it. Time management is everything during finals week.

2. Attend study group sessions

Reviewing class material in a group setting is super helpful and you may learn something important you wouldn't have learned otherwise. If there aren't any study sessions for your class that you know of, create one! Send out an email to the class and you are bound to get a couple of responses. It's finals week and students will do anything to get in a good study session.

3. Create a Study Guide through Google Docs

If you are not into interacting with other students in person, you can do it online. Upload the class study guide to a google doc and email the class to see who would want to contribute. Then send an email to those individuals and fill it out together. This way it's a lot less work and more time to study!

4. Coffee

Coffee and finals go together like Kim and Kayne. Nothing says how to survive finals week more than coffee. Coffee should become your best friend during this upcoming week. It helps you get in those much-needed studying hours.

5. Remember to sleep

Yes, coffee is great don't get me wrong. BUT, you do need to sleep. Your body can not function properly without some amount of sleep. I am not saying you have to get exactly 8-9 hours of sleep, I'm just recommending it. Your brain can only retain so much information. At the end of the day, you know what you know. Studying for two or three more hours way into the night instead of sleeping may not be the best decision.

6. Take a few breaks

Finals week is crazy. Sometimes you get so focused on studying and taking finals you forget to take time for yourself. Love yourself like Kanye loves Kanye. Take a break to just relax and recuperate before you start hitting the books again.

Good luck to everyone taking finals! You're going to kill it!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
