After the start of the new year, people make many different resolutions. A common one is working out. People want to get healthy in the new year, but they make many mistakes when they try to do it and the resolution doesn't last more than 2 weeks. Here are some ways to help you stick with your new year's resolution:

Write down your goals

The first way to make sure you stick with your new year's resolution is to write it down. Write it down somewhere where you can see it all the time. You can either write it on paper or type it on a phone or laptop. Once you write it or type it, put it where you can see it. By looking at it all of the time, you can you keep yourself motivated and you'll want to see the goals you hope to accomplish.

Make a plan

Set up what days you are going to do what. Decide what days you're going to workout and what you're going to do. If you set up some options you could do cardio one day, a class another day, and lifting weights different day. This way you are more likely to stick with it. Setting a specific schedule and time will help you stick with it.

Find something you enjoy doing

Sticking with working out is all about finding the thing that you like. You are going to want to workout if you enjoy what you're doing. If you don't like running then don't do it. If you like going to workout classes then do that instead. You are more likely to workout if you don't see it as working out. You want to see it as something fun and something you enjoy doing.

Find someone to keep you accountable

If you have someone to keep you accountable you are more likely to stick with it. Text someone and ask them to come with you, find a coach, or even just post on Instagram. If you tell someone about it, you are more likely to stick with it.

When you want to give up don't

Even if you want to give up don't do it. They say that it take sixty days to make a habit. Give it the sixty days and you'll make a full on life change. It is something that will become a part of your lifestyle and not a chore or something you feel obligated to do.

You can stick with your new year's resolution if you set yourself up for it. You need to write down your goals, make a plan, find something you enjoy doing, find someone to keep you accountable, and don't give up.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
