Finals can be quite a stressful time. There are a few ways to make the time a little less difficult. It is very easy to procrastinate, and wait to start thinking about finals the week or the night before. Starting early and breaking things up makes things more manageable and gives you more time to focus on actually studying. Hopefully these tips can make your life a little easier when it comes down to every college student's favorite week.
1. Make a List
About a month and a half before the end of the semester I like to start making a list of things I need to accomplish by the end of the semester. This is a good time to look at those handy dandy syllabi from the beginning of the semester and map out any long term assignments as well as upcoming tests. Making a list of everything you have left to do and crossing them off one by one can be motivational and keep you on track to finish strong!
2. Start Gathering Materials
If you wait until the weekend before finals to get everything together, studying is going to be miserable. Take some time to map out the things you will need to review for the test. Make notecards, start reviewing old chapters, and get organized for the weeks ahead. Collecting everything now will make studying less of a hassle when finals week rolls around and you will have less reasons to procrastinate.
3. Clean
When I say clean, I mean this in two ways. First of all you need to have a clean living environment. Make sure your room is organized, especially your desk area and your backpack. Another thing that helps is if you keep your closet organized so you can get going a little easier in the morning. Second of all, make sure you tie up any loose ends that can distract you from preparing for finals. Go out with your friends, sort out any disagreements, and make time for yourself.
