If you have never heard of the "Cot Dammit Elizabeth" videos on Youtube, stop what you are doing and go to this link.
These videos are not only funny, but anyone that has tried to eat healthy can relate to how Elizabeth feels. The videos are recorded by Elizabeth's boyfriend after she asked him to help her with going on a diet. After being asked, he decided to video tape their experiences. Throughout the videos Elizabeth breaks her diet by eating junk food such as McDonald's chicken nuggets and Tim Horton's donuts to name some things. What makes these videos so funny are not only the way she escapes her boyfriend by driving away from him, or the way she hides in bushes, or pays people to put on her clothes and impersonate her, but the reactions that her boyfriend has when he catches her in the act.
While we all watch and laugh at the videos, we should stop to realize that everyone can relate to how Elizabeth feels! Going on a diet takes a lot of hard work, dedication, and willpower to give up the foods that we love so much. In the videos, Elizabeth will run into McDonald and get chicken nuggets or when she is in the store she will grab junk food. I for one would not be able to live without chocolate milkshakes or macaroni and cheese! People all over the world go on diets, whether they try their own thing or they use weight watchers or some other pre-established company like that. The key aspect to having a successful diet is the support. Without support, it will be harder to stay away from the foods we love.
There are other aspects than just eating that go into a diet though! The other part would be exercise. In the videos, Elizabeth's boyfriend pushes her to run by bribing her, challenging her, and making funny remarks. Elizabeth's boyfriend also has her up at all hours the night and morning working out. While some of us may not be up at 2 AM working out, we realize that when we ask for help from our friends and partners, we will not be disappointed. Now I'm not saying that we all have to be up at 2 AM to go running, but we can all realize that without help of others exercising can be put aside and forgotten about. Exercise alone is boring and people often won't work as hard as they could, by having someone exercise with you, people can push each other to go the max. In the videos her boyfriend is not working out with her, but instead is telling her what to do and staying with her to help push her. Let's face it, we all need a push to either get started on a diet or to continue with a diet. By having a great support system, you are sure to get the results that you wanted.
The videos are usually posted weekly and are funnier and funnier every time you watch them!
