Netflix first came into my life my junior year of high school. I watched it occasionally when I ran out of shows to watch on TV. It had few good movies and a bunch of TV shows I didn't watch.
My freshman year of college, 2013, I realized how essential Netflix was. During my free time, I began to find different movies and watched them whenever I could. Then, I began finding TV series. It was at this moment that my life changed. In only months, I watched every season of Gossip Girl, Orange Is the New Black, 90210, Grey's Anatomy, and more.
I had become so addicted that at any moment of freedom, my laptop would be opened and propped up somewhere so that I could at least listen to the show play. I was almost ashamed until I went to my Art History class of 900 students in the Cox Building and saw every other student with their laptops open switching from notes to Netflix.
I am now in my second semester of sophomore year, just as much of a Netflix addict as I was before. Now, I am not ashamed. I am proud. If it wasn't for Serena and Blair from Gossip Girl, I wouldn't have made it through one of the hardest break-ups in my life. If it wasn't for Meredith and Christina from Grey's Anatomy, I wouldn't know what the meaning of a true best friend is.
College can get hard, and that is why we have Netflix. Netflix takes away the pressure of getting dressed and going out. With Netflix, you can lay in your bed with a bag of pretzels, your biggest T-shirt and have a totally better night than you would in Tigerland. I mean, who really wants to shower and get dressed just to have all the make-up and perfume you had on be sweated off by the end of the night?
When you are stressed because of boy drama, watch Netflix. When you are tired of going out to the same places every Thursday, watch Netflix. When you're sick as a dog, watch Netflix. When you're bored out of your mind and all of your friends are busy, watch Netflix. Netflix will never disappoint.
Make life easy and have faith in Netflix.
