Why HIMYM Ended the Way it Did

This article contains spoilers, so if you have not completed watching the series How I Met Your Mother, you may not want to read this further

For those of you who are familiar with the TV series "How I Met Your Mother,"(HIMYM) you were probably throwing the remote at the TV during the ending credits of the finale episode. It's widely recognized as one of the worst TV Series endings of all time. After nine seasons of build to up to how Ted, met Tracy( his children's mother) and an entire season dedicated to Barney and Robin's wedding, the writer's completely dropped the ball. Barney and Robin get divorced and they kill off the mother. It then ends exactly how it started, with Ted standing outside of Robin's apartment with the blue french horn, leading the audience to believe they got back together. Everything the series built up over 9 seasons was destroyed in the final two minutes, or was it?

The ending wasn't what we wanted, in fact not even close, but it's what we needed. To me, the entire point of the show was to instill the message of the chase for perfection. Ted Mosby, the protagonist in the series is in love with Robin Scherbatsky. They dated for a while, and it went extremely well actually, but they both realized that they wanted completely different things in life, so despite their love for each other, they broke up to chase their dreams.

However, throughout the series their feelings for each other keep coming up. It's as if whatever they do, it always comes up to the point of one of them wanting to get back with one another. It never happens, though, both of them know they get in the way of each others life plan.

By the end of the series, Ted's kids point out the story ( the series) wasn't about their mom at all, but about how He is in love with Robin. Ted spent all this time in pursuit of perfection, not realizing that the women he loved the most, he could've had from the beginning. Love isn't a perfect thing, and that's the beautiful thing about. Love is about loving the other person for who they are. So despite differences, you make the sacrifice because they make you happy.

I think creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas killed off Tracy for that very reason. To show us that perfection doesn't exist. You can spend your whole life of in search of something, but at the end of the day all you can do is what makes you the happiest. Everybody can't get exactly what they want out of life, but everybody can be happy. Search for love, a job, that one song you heard on the radio that one time, but don't know what it's called. Search for whatever you want, but the one thing you cannot search for is perfection.

Only the possimpible is Impossimpible.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
